Lyon have entered into discussions with Greek defensive midfielder Andreas Samaris about a possible January transfer, according to RMC.
The 29-year-old has lost his place in the Portuguese giants’ starting XI and has not played a single game for the club this season. OL are looking at him as another option in midfield to provide cover and experience for Lucas Tousart.
The incident occurred just outside the Matmut-Atlantique stadium and as these fans of the capital club came across the Ultras Marines, FCGB’s fiercest ultra group.
The setting off of flares by both sets of fans also brought the game to a temporary halt in the early going.
Australia's teams have both cruised into the quarter-finals with emphatic opening-day triumphs at the Rugby World Cup Sevens in Cape Town.Faith Nathan proved the star of the all-conquering women's outfit, who are seeking to add another title to their world series and Commonwealth Games triumphs, as she sped over for five tries in their last-16 thrashing of Madagascar on Friday. The 22-year-old flyer Nathan notched up a first-half double and added a six-minute hat-trick after the break, while there were also tries for Maddison Levi, Alysia Lefau-Fakaosilea and Sharni Williams.Williams, the 34-year-old Rio Olympics champion, also popped over four conversions in a 48-0 win which resembled an efficient training exercise at the start of the three-day knock-out tournament. It earned the Australians a more testing quarter-final date on Saturday with England, who beat Spain 29-5, while reigning champions New Zealand looked ominously good in a seven-try, 47-5 victory over Colombia. The Aussie men, fresh from earning their first world series title at Los Angeles a fortnight ago, also eased into their last-eight of their event with a 35-0 stroll against Uruguay.Like the other big hitters – Fiji, hosts South Africa and New Zealand – they had no problems advancing at Cape Town Stadium, with their five-try display featuring doubles for Maurice Longbottom and Henry Paterson and one from Henry Hutchison. In the last-eight on Saturday, they'll next play France, who beat Canada 19-12 in their hard-fought last-16 duel. New Zealand, who missed parts of the world series because of COVID-19 travel restrictions, blew away Scotland 43-5 to start their pursuit of a third straight World Cup title with seven tries, while Fiji comfortably beat Wales 29-5.South Africa concluded the opening day by hammering Chile 32-5.The biggest shock of the day featured the England men's 17-5 defeat by Ireland, while the US went down 40-12 to Samoa. A brilliant solo try from halfback Kalani Thomas has guaranteed University of Queensland a shot at back-to-back club premierships in Queensland.UQ’s quick-ball attack was too hot to handle for traditional rivals Brothers in a decisive 36-22 win in the preliminary final of Queensland's StoreLocal Hospital Cup.Watch every minute of the StoreLocal Hospital Cup LIVE on Stan Sport. Start your Free Sport Trial NowToday’s victory at Bond University on the Gold Coast earns UQ a grand final date with minor premiers Wests at Suncorp Stadium next Sunday.UQ will be chasing a seventh title under coach Mick Heenan since 2010 while Wests will be out to break a 16-year drought in the club’s first grand final since captain John Roe’s success with the 2006 side. The UQ win was comprehensive so the outcome of the preliminary final was less likely to have been flipped by a key injury just 90 seconds into the game.Discarded Wallaby James O’Connor took off down the shortside from the first scrum of the game, fended off two defenders and hurtled into the UQ quarter. The flyhalf was tackled but sprained his right ankle in the awkward tangle of bodies and was forced to limp off.No other side in the country has the luxury of replacing a Super Rugby flyhalf with another. Back-up Queensland Reds No.10 Lawson Creighton immediately switched from wing to flyhalf.O’Connor may have been able to convert Brothers’ dominance of the opening 20 minutes into more than just a 3-0 lead. Ultimately, UQ’s tenacity in this period was telling.Once centre Nick Jooste finally freed winger Joe Pincus with a long pass in the lead-up to the Mac Grealy try for 5-3 after 27 minutes, UQ were away. UQ piled on quick attack after quick attack with the speed of their ruck ball and halfback Thomas picking the right targets with his crisp pass. The presence of Wallaby squad duo, Jock Campbell (UQ) and Harry Wilson (Brothers), was yet another reminder of how the standard lifts when top players are freed for club footy.
Fullback Campbell shifted into space beautifully on the end of quick hands to take a gap for his try that ended the first half at 12-3.The Brethren bounced back straight after the break. One of Creighton’s big plusses is how square he is when he confronts the line. He bumped and stepped his way through to set up the Ash Watson try. Scores were close at 12-10.UQ’s grit was superb. No.8 Wilson wound up a number of big runs and hooker Cam Flavell stood his ground to fell the Wallaby front-on with one of the tackles of the match.Veteran flanker Conor Mitchell, already with three premierships to his name, is clearly hungry for another. His workrate was immense. He disrupted a dangerous Brothers’ maul off a lineout, he tackled, he was held up just short of the tryline and generally kept himself busy.Thomas looked left and right from the ruckbase before snapping a pass left when flyhalf Brad Twidale scored for 19-10. A quick follow-up charge for a try from Melbourne Rebels-bound prop Isaac Aedo Kailea stretched the gap to 26-10. The second of two yellow cards against the Brethren really hurt when UQ clinically took advantage of halfback Mosiah Christian being off the field just after the hour mark.Thomas knew the defence around the lineout would be thinnier as a result. He spied a hole, dummied twice and took off on a 45m run to the tryline.“We knew Brothers had subbed off a winger to bring on another halfback and they were defending with one less. The back two (in the lineout) chased off and space opened that might otherwise not have been there,” Thomas said.Thomas was delighted with the six-try showing and the chance for a return bout against Wests, who advanced to the grand final when the sides played a 37-all draw in the major semi-final.“Our ability to hold onto the ball, build more patiently through the forwards and cut down on errors were areas we had to improve on and we did,” Thomas said.“It’ll be great to have another shot at Wests. We do need to start better because Wests and Brothers have had the early momentum in our finals so far.”Lock Pat Morrey was non-stop. Kye Oates ran strongly and defended stoutly in his switch from wing to the unfamiliar outside centre position. Jooste added some nice touches and Campbell was all class.Brothers scored two late tries when the result was gone but it showed the club’s spirit. Neat hands created a deserved try out wide for Wilson, who never stopped working.Prop Jaiden Christian was strong early and brother Mosiah was always alert but the Brethren had no answer when UQ were rolling.UQ’s one big worry entering the grand final is goalkicking. Brad Twidale, Jooste and Oates have slotted a lamentable five-from-15 shots between them in the finals.

Speaking in an interview with Nice-Matin, OGC Nice President Jean-Pierre Rivère had the following to say regarding the reported complete breakdown in relationship between Italian forward Mario Balotelli and manager Patrick Vieira, amid rumours that Les Aiglons will sell “Super Mario” next month.
“We are going to look at things calmly. With Mario, we will not call it quits angrily. Mario has brought as so many things in the first two seasons. This year, it is more complicated. We know why… It is a delicate situation, as much for us as it is for him. We are going to see what could happen during this transfer window. Mario is under contract.”
Ligue 1 side Toulouse this morning confirmed the departure of 32-year-old Cameroonian international defensive midfielder Stéphane Mbia by mutual agreement, following rumours of a bust up between the player and manager Alain Casanova.
Speaking to La Dépeche, Mbia had the following to say:
“I am sorry to the fans, but I wanted to quit Toulouse. I had the possibility to terminate my contract in January and I have done that.”
It is understood that Mbia’s frustrations with Casanova centred around his handling of the younger players in the squad and his tactical decisions.
Mbia, who officially denies this version of events, played just 5 times in Ligue 1 for Toulouse after joining last summer.
It is unlikely that the player’s career will end here; he has received approaches in recent weeks from Dubai, Spain and Italy.
20 Minutes report that Ligue 1 side Nantes have identified their primary target to replace Emiliano Sala (who has joined Cardiff) as 28-year-old Marseille striker Valère Germain.
The French forward has scored just 3 goals so far this season and a loan deal is the sort of agreement that Nantes are seeking for the Marseille player who is currently under contract until 2021.
Nice are competing with Nantes for the player’s signature, but both are pessimistic about their chances of making a deal happen, owing to Germain’s astronomical salary of €300k a month.
Marseille want the player’s entire salary paid in the event of a loan deal.
Our colleagues at Paris United report this morning that Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur are continuing to force the issue to sign PSG midfielder Adrien Rabiot.
Mauricio Pochettino spoke with the Frenchman earlier this week to explain the club’s project and assure Rabiot a place in his starting XI. Spurs are offering the PSG midfielder a €5m signing fee and €7.5m a year, an enormous sacrifice on the North London club’s part owing to their current wage structure.
Serge Aurier and Lucas Moura are both actively attempting to convince Rabiot to join Spurs this winter. On the PSG side of things, they retain a very good relationship with Tottenham boss Daniel Levy, and the capital club favours a sale to Spurs this month.
Rabiot is hesitating: on the one hand he likes a lot the British capital and would be delighted to join back up with his former team-mates; on the flip side, his preferred destination in England is Liverpool, if he was to ever move to the Premier League.
Back in Paris, manager Thomas Tuchel told Rabiot that he would like to re-integrate him into the 1st team last week, something that was totally refused by Sporting Director Antero Henrique.
Speaking an interview with RMC which aired tonight, 24-year-old DC United attacking midfielder Luciano Acosta discussed his failed January move to PSG and confirmed that he still wants a deal to happen.
“Obviously, if I could, I would love to move to Paris. It is an exceptional team, with a worldwide reputation, in a very good league. But if it does not happen, I have contacts with other teams that want me. I have not asked my agent if I am going to come (to PSG), if it is done, but I hope that it will be done, I will have to wait another 2 or 3 months.”
