Troyes defender Kiki Kouyaté dreams of England, chased by Montpellier & Olympiakos

23-year-old ESTAC Troyes and Mali international central defender Kiki Kouyaté wants to make a summer move to England, according to L’Est Eclair.

The player has initial approaches from Montpellier and Olympiakos, and although his primary desire is a move across the Channel, he is unlikely to meet the work permit conditions that require a player to have played at least 75% international matches (excluding friendlies) over the last two years.

Other negative point for England, he has not played since January, having experienced abdominal problems during a match against Paris FC.

He is still however due to leave the club this summer and ESTAC had been hoping to cash in by breaking their €6.5m transfer record sale, which was Bryan Mbuemo last summer This plan was of course hatched pre-COVID-19 striking – this looks to be unlikely given the current market conditions.

AC Milan have prised right-back Pierre Kalulu from Lyon; medical on Monday

Serie A side AC Milan have successfully convinced 20-year-old right-back Pierre Kalulu to sign professional terms with them, prising him away from Lyon for nothing more than a youth development fee in the process.

Gianluca di Marzio reports that the youngster will undergo a medical with Milan on Monday – this news comes as a huge blow to Lyon Sporting Director Juninho, who had worked hard to convince the youngster that he would have a place in the club’s first team next season, even telling his camp that the club was seeking to sell Rafael and Kenny Tete in order to make sufficient space.

Bayern Munich also chased him considerably, but in the end Kalulu was convinced by Milan’s Technical Director Paolo Maldini to move to the Serie A side.

Wallaby Simone relishing 'scary' Moala partnership at Clermont

Clermont's Australia centre Irae Simone said lining up alongside ex-New Zealand midfielder George Moala for the club is "scary" before they head to Toulon in the Top 14 on Sunday.Simone, 27, made the last of his three Wallabies appearances in August, leaving the Brumbies for the French outfit this season."Having him outside me, he's a big ball carrier, he's got such an X-factor," Simone told AFP on Wednesday."Just to play next to him is pretty scary. You go into a match knowing you have someone big next to you gives you a lot of confidence," he added.Simone came off the bench in his country's loss to Argentina last month after making his Test debut in 2020."I'm still motivated to play Test rugby," he said."I'm not really trying to focus too much on the international side of things though, my main focus is on Clermont," he added. The Auckland-born playmaker came through the South Sydney Rabbitohs rugby league youth set-up and has signed a two-year deal with Clermont, coached by former All Blacks back-rower Jono Gibbes."A lot of people say that you go overseas for the money. The money's good but in terms of choosing Clermont it was the rugby side of things," Simone said."The experience and the personnel here, who can help me get to the next level. "Speaking to Jono and the coaching staff made the conversation start from there," he added.- 'Rough us up' -In central France, Simone has reunited with former Waratahs team-mate in ex-Wallabies under 20s full-back Alex Newsome, who has also agreed a two-year deal at the Stade Marcel-Michelin."It was weird because I didn't know until they announced it that he had signed for Clermont," Simone said."I've known Alex for a while, we've had a lot of beers together, a few boys trips together."Having someone like that overseas makes it a lot easier for me and my family," he added. This weekend, in the Top 14's third round, Simone's side head to Stade Mayol, the hostile home of three-time European Cup champions Toulon, who include ex-Italy captain Sergio Parisse and France skipper Charles Ollivon in their squad."They will try and bully us, rough us up a bit," Simone said."Because it's an away week, it's all about us, trying to defend what they throw at us, win those collisions and match that physicality," he added. Elsewhere, winless Bordeaux-Begles host last season's runners up Castres and champions Montpellier head to Brive.Pau welcome league leaders Toulouse, who will be without Ollivon's injured Test team-mates Romain Ntamack and Francois Cros, to a sold-out Stade du Hameau.Click Here: Red Bull Racing Suit

Rudi Garcia: “We have not received any offers for Houssem Aouar & Moussa Dembélé.”

Speaking on RTL at the weekend, Lyon manager Rudi Garcia touched on a number of crucial topics, with the 1st team back in full training.

On Houssem Aouar and Moussa Dembélé:

I hope that Houssem Aouar will stay. Him and Moussa Dembélé. I can tell you categorically that we have not received any offers for them. I am told that Memphis (Depay) is also not on the list of possible departures.

On Jean-Michel Aulas:

His tenacity was admirable. And just for Lyon. He fought the media and legal battle. Today, everybody loses. I think that the league will weaken.

On seeking a signing at centre-back:

We are looking for a central defender. Numerically, we only have three. We need leadership, but we are looking at young defenders, rather than those who are more seasoned. I don’t know if financially it will be possible.

On Rayan Cherki and Maxence Caqueret:

Rayan Cherki has made a very good start, as has Maxence Caqueret. I did not wait for other players to get injured to give them a chance to play. We must create the right conditions for them to enjoy themselves, so not too many great players stand in their way.

On the Champions’ League:

If we get past Juve and we go into the quarter-finals, it will be an incredible opportunity! There will be one quarter-final, one semi-final and one final. But we will come there with a full strength team. We are going to try very hard.

Rennes reject €15m offer from Al-Duhail for M’Baye Niang

Our colleagues at Foot Mercato report that Ligue 1 side Rennes have rejected a €15m offer from Qatari side Al-Duhail for Senegalese attacker M’Baye Niang.

The 25-year-old received the approach from the Middle Eastern club via intermediary Moussa Sissoko – SRFC want at least €20m in order to sell their striker.

Al-Duhail is owned by the Emir of Qatar, like PSG, and they have yet to give up on a deal for the SM Caen youth product.

However, the outlet claims that Newcastle United, West Ham and Eintracht Frankfurt have all also registered interest in Niang in recent days, alongside Tottenham, who are offering the player a substitute role.

Under contract with Rennes until 2023, the player is still dreaming of a summer move to Marseille, but it is unclear whether or not OM will be able to afford a deal. Niang is not entirely closed off to a Middle Eastern experience.

Wallabies using Bledisloe pain as motivation ahead of Eden Park clash

The Wallabies are using the pain from a heartbreaking Bledisloe defeat as motivation ahead of Saturday's second Test at Eden Park.Dave Rennie's men went down after the siren against the All Blacks in Melbourne, with an 80th minute try to Jordie Barrett sealing the 39-37 victory. The decision to award a scrum for time wasting with 90 seconds to go was still fresh in players' minds, eager to learn from it and move on.“There was a lot of disappointment straight away in the changing rooms after the game. The feeling was that we thought we’d played a great game and showed a lot of character, connection to work ourselves back into the game," prop Allan Alaalatoa said to reporters.“There was definitely disappointment over the last couple of days but we sat down together as a group and with the coaching staff to review the game on Sunday and got a great understanding of how we can be better, especially heading forward into this week at Eden Park.“There’s definitely a lot of confidence within the lads and the energy has been great so far. The boys are looking forward to a tough test match…We looked at that moment and see how we can be better, not only there (in the final minutes) but our game management throughout the game.“I’ve never been a part of a Rugby game where that’s happened but we’ve learnt that in the process of making those decisions, we have to be better along with other leaders on the field at that time.”Centre Lalakai Foketi played a crucial role in the finish, winning the turnover that gave the Wallabies the penalty on their line, seen screaming at flyhalf Bernard Foley before the whistle blew.“There was a personal change at the end there so from a back’s perspective, we had the same people out there and felt like we had an opportunity to win the game there. We were so far away from the ref and the crowd was going crazy, we couldn’t hear anything,” he recounts of the final moments of the Test.“‘Nard (Foley) was looking at the forward pack huddled up and they were just getting their call ready when we got the penalty and what we were going to do. I just think personal change and Bernard was figuring out who was on the field and what calls we did on our next move which was to kick it out."The Waratah believes they need to 'harness' the disappointment with the Rugby Championship still mathematically possible with a bonus point victory and Argentina win.“I think you look at the game and everyone in the environment is disappointed, we’ve just got to harness that and take it to New Zealand," Foketi explained."Every opportunity to put on the gold jersey is unbelievable and if I get the chance this weekend, I want to pay back the belief and trust in this group.“You have great centres in the group, unfortunately, some are injured but I want to continue what they’ve been doing.”Click Here: nrl jerseys
