WWE Raw ratings down a bit against college football title game

Raw dropped four percent from last week to 2.75 million viewers, but considering the competition, that’s got to be considered a healthy number.

The Alabama vs. Georgia game to decide this year’s college football national champion did 27.38 million viewers, which may be the biggest number for anything on cable that Raw faces all year.

Raw was sixth for the night on cable, trailing only football-related shows on ESPN and beating all the news channel programming.

The pattern was a steady decline through the show, but that would be expected given the football game started midway through the first hour.

In particular, Raw lost 25 percent of its audience from hour one to three in women 18-49, but the other drops weren’t nearly as bad and teenage boys increased from hour one to three.

The Raw audience should start its seasonal increase with next week’s show, and the 25th anniversary show in two weeks is likely to be the highest rated episode of the year.

The three hours were:

8 p.m. 2.99 million viewers
9 p.m. 2.78 million viewers
10 p.m. 2.50 million viewers
