Nantes have this morning confirmed the appointment of former Montpellier and Lille manager René Girard on a two year contract.

Girard will start working immediately after Nantes’s final game of the season this Saturday.

Current manager Michel der Zakarian leaves the club as his contract expires at the end of next month therefore.

The appointment of Girard has not been a popular one amongst the fans, with several anti-Girard hashtag movements having already been formed in the weeks leading up to this announcement.
