Often a bench warmer at top half Ligue 1 outfit Metz last season, Malian defender Mamadou Fofana has joined Ligue 2 Amiens on a permanent deal.

The centre-back, now 23, has signed a five year contract and will wear the number two having spent three seasons with Les Grenats, playing 80 times without scoring.

Fofana follows his namesake, 20-year-old central midfielder Mamadou Fofana – formerly of Le Havre, in moving to Philippe Hinschberger’s side this summer.
