Our colleague Fabrice Hawkins reports that Ligue 1 side Lens have beaten a host of clubs to the free transfer signing of 19-year-old central defender Christopher Wooh from Ligue 2 outfit AS Nancy.
The promising teenager received more than 10 offers from clubs, but he narrowed them down according to where playing time was most realistic as quickly as possible.
Offers came from Chelsea, Bayer Leverkusen, Eintracht Frankfurt, Rennes as well as, per L’Équipe, Ligue 1 side Marseille, with President Pablo Longoria having pushed very hard to try to do a deal.
However, the player has chosen Lens, whose closest competitor for Wooh’s signature was Rennes.
The Brittany side through manager Bruno Genesio and President Nicolas Holveck, who both made personal overtures, have lost out to Franck Haise and RCL.
