Jeff Hardy Changes Finisher, Drake/Impact Update, New Lesnar Stat

Jeff Hardy has always been able to leave audiences amazed with his unique style of wrestling and impressive daredevil maneuvers, and the current United States Champion has continues to do just that right now. On last week’s episode of Smackdown, Hardy revealed a couple of changes to his character, such as the choice to begin wearing face paint once again, but it now appears that Hardy has adopted a new finishing move into his arsenal. Fans have noted that Hardy has been using a Twist of Fate followed by a splash to end his matches at some of the recent WWE live events. While this does not necessarily mean that Jeff Hardy won’t be using the Swanton Bomb as his finisher anymore, the sudden finisher change could very well be a sign that the move is being phased down at the moment.

Eli Drake’s status in Impact Wrestling was finally revealed in a tweet sent out by the promotion yesterday. Drake’s contract with Impact expired earlier this year and the former world champion had been signing short contract extensions over the past few weeks, but Impact announced yesterday that Drake had signed another contract to stay with them. While he initial announcement did not specify the exact amount of time that Drake had re-signed for, it has just been confirmed on Wrestling Observer Radio that Drake did indeed sign a multi-year deal that will see him remain a member of the Impact Wrestling roster for the foreseeable future. Get ready to see Drake wrestle in the Impact Zone for several more years to come.

Brock Lesnar’s current reign as the Universal Champion in WWE is a very controversial one, but there is no denying that “The Beast Incarnate” has shattered a lot of records ever since he won the title at WrestleMania 33 last year. Not only is Lesnar the longest reigning Universal Champion of all time, but he also recently surpassed CM Punk’s 434 day title reign, making him the longest reigning WWE world champion of the modern era. Lesnar has just managed to break another championship record as of today. Now at 449 days as champion, Lesnar has surpassed former WWE Superstar Gillberg’s 448 day reign as the Light Heavyweight Champion. With Lesnar still not scheduled to defend his Universal Championship again until at least SummerSlam in August, he could end up breaking even more records over the next couple of weeks.
