— At the 8/9 WWE Summerfest event in Venice, California, WWE was handing out flyers promoting SmackDown’s move to myNetworkTV on October 3, 2008. Superstars featured on the flyer include Mr. Kennedy, MVP, Carlito (featuring his altered appearance), Maria, and Candice Michelle. Considering that SmackDown draftee Maria is on it, and it features Carlito’s new look (which he debuted a little over a month ago), the flyer was printed fairly recently. Candice has been out of action since March due the re-injuring of her clavicle, but should be returning to the ring soon. Judging by the flyer, it seems to indicate that Candice will be appearing on SmackDown upon her return to the ring. You can see the image at this link.
— WWE.com has acknowledged our report on Gail Kim parting ways with TNA. However, the report doesn’t have anything on Kim joining WWE. You can read the report at this link.
— In its first week out – and despite a huge price tag – the SummerSlam: The Complete Anthology 1988-2007 DVD set is number on Billboard’s Video Sales – Recreational Sports DVD chart this week. It beat out the DVD on the 2007-2008 NBA Champions Boston Celtics. And despite being out for over two months, the DVD set on The Rock is in third place, even beating out the DVD set on Ric Flair, which has only been out for five weeks. You can see the complete chart at this link.
— Today is SmackDown backstage announcer Eve Torres’ birthday. Some sites list her birthday as May 5th, but it’s actually today.
