Breakthrough: Manchester United cleared to sign Spurs star for £105m after SHOCK development at Real Madrid

Manchester United may now be in a strong position to seal the transfer of Christian Eriksen.

The Denmark international is refusing to sign a new contract at Tottenham at the moment, with his current deal due to expire at the end of next season.

This will be a big worry for Spurs, with a recent report from the Sun stating Manchester United were favourites for Eriksen’s signature, particularly if Mauricio Pochettino swaps north London for Manchester in the summer.

This could be a dream double raid on Tottenham for the Red Devils, and it looks like their main rivals Real Madrid could now be out of the running for his signature.

According to Don Balon, the Spanish giants are struggling to afford the 26-year-old’s £105million asking price and could try their luck with a swap deal involving Colombian flop James Rodriguez instead – something that won’t exactly be too appealing to the north London side.

AC Milan and Juventus eye 19-year-old starlet with €120m release clause

AC Milan and Juventus are both reportedly keeping tabs on Benfica starlet Joao Felix as he continues to impress for the Portuguese giants.

The 19-year-old has bagged six goals and three assists in 12 Liga NOS appearances so far this season, proving to be more than capable of delivering at senior level.

With that form in mind, it hasn’t taken long for interest to build from around Europe, with a string of clubs said to be interested in the Portuguese talent.

According to Calciomercato, Juventus have spoken with his agent Jorge Mendes, while Milan hope their previous relationship with current Benfica sporting director Rui Costa could give them an advantage. However, it’s also added that he has a €120m release clause in his current contract, and so any swoop will surely involve a huge transfer fee.

It remains to be seen if either are willing to splash out, or are even in a financial position to do so, with Real Madrid, Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain and Atletico Madrid all specifically mentioned as interested parties too.

Nevertheless, whether it’s Juve’s push to add more youth to the squad to help sustain their success or Milan trying to add to what is already a young squad and building for the future, Felix would certainly fit the mould for either Italian giant.

Time will tell if either are able to prise him away from Benfica, but based on his form so far this season, he may well have a decision to make on whether he wants to continue his development in his homeland or take the risk of a major move for his career at such an early stage. Provided that an agreement is even reached with Benfica over a deal.

Chelsea loanee keen on permanent exit, but leaves door open for Blues return

Tiemoue Bakayoko is currently enjoying an impressive loan spell with AC Milan from Chelsea, and he has hinted at a permanent stay with the Italian giants.

The 24-year-old experienced a shaky start to life in Italy, as he was quickly criticised following unconvincing performances for coach Gennaro Gattuso’s side.

However, following the injury sustained by Lucas Biglia last year, Bakayoko has seized his opportunity and has become a key figure in Milan’s midfield, making 26 appearances in all competitions.

Impressing with his defensive coverage in front of the backline coupled with his physicality and powerful runs forward from midfield, the Frenchman has undoubtedly turned things around with the Italian giants and has now suggested that he would prefer to stay if the two clubs are able to reach an agreement.

“Who wouldn’t want to stay at a club like AC Milan for a long time?” he told French newspaper Nice Matin, as quoted by the Independent.

“But I still have three years left on my contract at Chelsea and I do not control all the elements. Not everything depends on me.”

As noted by Calciomercato, Bakayoko is currently on a season-long loan deal with Milan, and it’s claimed that the Rossoneri will have to splash out €35.5m to make it a permanent move.

In turn, qualification for the Champions League is arguably crucial for them ahead of the summer transfer window, as they continue to hold on to fourth place in Serie A.

Bakayoko will undoubtedly be a crucial part of that push to secure a return to Europe’s top table, although he is right to note that ultimately Chelsea do potentially still have a say on his future, particularly if Milan don’t exercise that reported option.

It can be argued that he doesn’t fit Maurizio Sarri’s preferred style of play which is why he was offloaded last summer. Nevertheless, given his impressive passing performances in recent weeks, the Italian tactician might decide to take another look at the situation.

PGA Professional Championship marks its first move to April with a 2019 visit to scenic Belfair in South Carolina

PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. – Belfair of Bluffton, South Carolina, one of the Southeast’s acclaimed golf destinations, will host the 2019 PGA Professional Championship, the world’s largest all-professional event.

The 52nd edition of the PGA Professional Championship will be conducted for the first time in the spring, April 28-May 1, 2019. All four rounds will be broadcast live on Golf Channel. The Championship is presented by Club Car and OMEGA.

It will be the 10th visit by the Championship to the Carolinas PGA Section and third appearance in the state of South Carolina. The 312-player event was last played in the Palmetto State in 2014 in Myrtle Beach.

“The PGA of America is excited to take the PGA Professional Championship to Belfair, which is an outstanding location to showcase our finest playing PGA Professionals,” said PGA President Paul Levy. “Belfair features the elements we look for in this national championship – challenging courses, inviting facilities and a staff that embraces an exceptional field.”

Beginning in 2019, the PGA Professional Championship will be played in late April as a result of new competition dates for the PGA Championship, which will move to May 16-19, 2019.

The 2018 PGA Professional Championship will be conducted June 17-20, at Bayonet Black Horse in Seaside, California.

The PGA Professional Championship field is comprised of players who advanced from the 41 PGA Section Championships, along with Past Champions. The low 20 scorers at Belfair will earn a berth in the 2019 PGA Championship at Bethpage Black in Farmingdale, New York.

“Belfair is truly a unique property and certainly all of us look forward to hosting the 2019 PGA Professional Championship,” said Belfair PGA General Manager/COO Ken Kosak. “We have a number of PGA Professionals who have made it their home, and we are most proud of that.”

Belfair, featuring the Tom Fazio-designed East and West Courses, will host the 2018 U.S. Open local qualifying tournament; and was the site of the 2013 South Carolina Open; and the Players Amateur (2000-11), which featured past Champions Ben Curtis, Rickie Fowler, Bill Haas and Brian Harman. “We are excited about the opportunity to have Belfair exposed on a national stage,” said Belfair PGA Director of Golf James Swift. “It is particularly gratifying to have our Association’s finest players playing on our courses.”

The West Course, which will host play during all four rounds, is a parklands design that was opened for play in 1996. LINKS Magazine called it “what could be the finest set of golf holes in the Lowcountry, if not on the East Coast.” This 18-hole, par-72 course with 7,111 total yards from the championship tees.

The East Course, reminiscent of the links courses of Scotland, opened in 1999 and showcases deep-water views, open windswept fairway and fresh water lakes and lagoons. The par-71 layout measures 6,900 yards from the championship tees.

Chelsea working to beat Man Utd & Liverpool to £134m DOUBLE transfer to replace Hazard & Fabregas

Chelsea are reportedly working on two exciting transfers for Marco Asensio and Marco Verratti for the near future as they seek to replace Eden Hazard and Cesc Fabregas.

The Blues sold Fabregas to Monaco this January and have also been linked with moves for Nicolo Barella and Leandro Paredes for that position in midfield.

However, neither of those look like coming to fruition, with Paredes’ move to PSG a particularly interesting one as it could see the Blues cleared to swoop for Verratti from the French giants.

Don Balon have previously linked Chelsea and Manchester United with the £62million-rated Italy international, who seems an ideal type of midfielder to come in and bolster the squad of his fellow countryman Maurizio Sarri at Stamford Bridge.

Marco Verratti to Chelsea transfer would be ideal to help replace Cesc Fabregas

On top of that, Chelsea must surely act to replace Hazard soon amid growing speculation that he’s set to snub a new contract with CFC and look for a move to Real Madrid.

Lionel Messi tipped to “fall in love” with new Barcelona teammate by former Blaugrana star

Former Barcelona star Ronald de Boer is tipping Frenkie de Jong for big things, and believes that Lionel Messi is going to love playing alongside him.

As noted by BBC Sport, the 21-year-old has reportedly sealed a summer move to the Nou Camp worth €75m+, as the Catalan giants evidently believe that he can be a major part of their long-term future.

Time will tell if that’s the case, as although the talented youngster looks a perfect fit for them with his style of play and technical quality in mind, that’s a lot of pressure to deal with to ensure that he meets expectations.

Nevertheless, De Boer doesn’t appear to have too many doubts over his ability to prove his worth, as he believes his compatriot will certainly be a popular teammate for Messi as he looks to conduct things behind the Argentine icon and help create chances for him.

“De Jong has the DNA of Ajax, which is almost the same as that of Barça,” he is quoted as saying by Sport. “He is intelligent, always has good ideas and never plays without thinking. Messi is going to fall in love with De Jong.”

With over 60 senior appearances for Ajax under his belt already along with five caps for the Netherlands, De Jong certainly appears to have a very bright future ahead of him for club and country.

He’ll look to integrate into the squad this summer, and being able to fit into the side and ensure that Messi can continue to be as brilliantly decisive as he has been for many years now will be a crucial factor.

He certainly appears to have the characteristics to do so, but time will tell if he can produce on the pitch to ensure that De Boer’s prediction becomes a reality.

Marc Leishman opens with a 67 to lead at Kapalua

Marc Leishman is having a much better time at Kapalua this year, on and off the golf course.

Leishman, coming off his best year with two PGA Tour victories that helped him become the highest-ranked player from Australia, made eight birdies in a strong wind Thursday on the Plantation Course for a 6-under 67 and a one-shot lead over Brian Harman and Jhonattan Vegas.

Only six players broke 70 in the opening round, a product of trade winds strong enough to cause players to back off putts.

There were a few other wild moments. Leishman thought he hit his tee shot out-of-bounds on the 14th hole, where the wind sent it sailing beyond the waist-high native grass. Just his luck, he wound up in someone's backyard, and it wasn't out-of-bounds. What he figured would be a double bogey off the tee became a par.

"Best break I've had all year," Leishman said after the first round of 2018.

Rickie Fowler sent his approach to the 13th into the native grass, found it and took two hacks to get it onto the green, making double bogey. He bounced back with a pair of birdies and an eagle putt on the closing hole for a 69.

Dustin Johnson and Si Woo Kim also were at 69.

Defending champion Justin Thomas hit his tee shot on No. 12 into the 13th fairway. That was the direction he took at the TPC Boston when he won a FedEx Cup playoff event last fall, but this wasn't on purpose. He still did enough right for a 71.

Thomas played in the final group with Spieth, who wasn't nearly as fortunate. Spieth had never shot over par in his previous 12 rounds at Kapalua. On Thursday, he had to get up-and-down from 167 yards on the downwind, downhill, par-5 18th just to salvage par for a 75.

He attributed it to adjustments he's making with his putting stroke, trying to get it back to where it was a few years ago, and he needs more competitive rounds. That might explain his trio of three-putt bogeys.

Leishman had no such worries.

"It was nice to see some putts go in. Just gets the year off to a good start," he said. "Hopefully, I can keep it going and see where we end up Sunday night."

Leishman won the Arnold Palmer Invitational in March, and then ran away from the field at the BMW Championship during the FedEx Cup playoffs. It was a breakthrough for the 34-year-old Aussie, and it brought him back to Kapalua.

The last time was in 2013, when the wind was so strong that the opening round was scratched and the tournament did start until Monday, which was when it was supposed to finish. It was reduced to 54 holes. Leishman had a pair of 75s and tied for 23rd.

And that's wasn't even the worst of it.

"I remember I got food poisoning," he said. "I threw up three times in the first five holes and they canceled the whole day, so I was really happy. I remember spending a lot of time in a hotel room. Our son was almost 1 and we had the 'Wiggles' on repeat the whole week."

Juventus and Bayern Munich prepared to do battle in transfer market for 21-year-old Man United starlet

Manchester United goalkeeper Dean Henderson has emerged as a primary transfer target for Juventus and Bayern Munich.

According to ESPN, the young shot-stopper signed a fresh two-year contract at Old Trafford last summer and United have the option to extend that deal by an extra year, but several top European clubs are monitoring his progress.

ESPN reports that Juventus and Bayern Munich are already preparing offers for the 21-year-old starlet, with a possible summer transfer market battle now on the cards.

Henderson has not yet made his senior debut for the Red Devils and at the moment he is plying his trade in the Championship with Sheffield United, on a season-long loan.

The Englishman has impressed for the Blades during the 2018-19 campaign, featuring in 30 matches to help the team rise to third in the league table, with realistic aspirations of promotion to the Premier League come May.

Henderson has already represented England at U-21 level and he has been tipped for a bright future at club level, with some suggestion that he could be the long-term natural successor to David De Gea between the sticks at United.

Dean Henderson

However, he is a long way from earning his place in the Red Devils first team yet, with Sergio Romero also ahead of him in the pecking order as United’s second choice goalkeeper.

If Bayern or Juve do indeed launch formal bids at the end of the season, Henderson will have a huge decision to make. Regular football is the only way for him to develop quickly and reach his potential, but those kind of opportunities are unlikely to be forthcoming at United just yet.

If he is willing to bide his time and accept more loan moves in the near future, his Old Trafford career could still take off but if he is anxious to take that next step forward in his career ahead of schedule, a permanent move abroad might just be too tempting to turn down.

Jose Mourinho eyeing €50M La Liga hitman to be his first signing back as Real Madrid manager

Jose Mourinho has reportedly asked Real Madrid to make a move for Portugal and AC Milan forward Andre Silva, a player who’s currently on loan at Sevilla.

This is according to Don Balon, who note that the 55-year-old has requested that the club make Silva his first signing as manager of Los Blancos.

The report also states that Silva’s arrival would set the Spanish giants back around €50M, a small price to pay for a player of his quality.

Since joining Sevilla from AC Milan on loan in the summer just gone, Silva has been in fine form for Pablo Machin’s side.

The Portuguese sensation has scored eight times in 19 La Liga appearances for Sevilla, a decent record that most strikers would be proud to call their own.

Madrid have been more than abysmal in front of goal this season, with the club only managing to bag a total of 30 goals in 20 league outings, a number that’s nearly half of the 56 goals league-leaders Barcelona have managed.

Mourinho wants Silva to join him in his second reign as Real Madrid manager

The club are yet to fill the void left by Cristiano Ronaldo following his move to Juventus in the summer, however their goal scoring problems could very well be solved should they manage to bring in Silva.

The 23-year-old would be a fine signing for Real to make, and it could even be one that ends Karim Benzema’s stint in Real’s first team for the foreseeable future.

Only time will tell us if Real listen to Jose and bring in Sevilla in preparation for his arrival, something we’re sure a lot of fans of the club would be excited to see happen…

Exit close: Man Utd ace agrees personal terms ahead of touted £10m transfer

Man Utd midfielder Marouane Fellaini has reportedly moved closer to an exit from Old Trafford in favour of a move to China.

According to BBC Sport, the Belgian international has agreed personal terms with Shandong Luneng, overcoming a major obstacle in a possible switch.

Further, as noted by respected Belgian journalist Kristof Terreur in his tweet below, it has been suggested that the Chinese outfit will pay the Red Devils £10m to prise the 31-year-old away from Manchester, a fee also reported by the Daily Mail.

Fellaini has been with United since moving from Everton in 2013, and has gone on to make 177 appearances for the club while winning an FA Cup, League Cup and the Europa League.

However, he has struggled throughout to establish himself as a regular starter in the line-up, although he did continue to play a key role for Jose Mourinho prior to the Portuguese tactician’s departure last month.

With Ander Herrera, Paul Pogba and Nemanja Matic being preferred by interim boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer since he took charge, coupled with Fellaini continuing to struggle with injuries, it has seemingly led to him falling down the pecking order.

In turn, it’s easy to see why an exit could be tempting at this stage, although there won’t be a huge rush as the transfer window doesn’t close until the end of next month in China.

With that in mind, there is still plenty of time for the two clubs to reach an agreement on a transfer fee with the £10m bid touted above, although Fellaini reportedly agreeing on personal terms in itself is a huge step towards securing an exit.
