New Theme for Smackdown Star, New Teams, Brandi Rhodes GFW Update

WWE has been traveling across Canada as of late, and the company put on two different live events from Montreal, Quebec, and Ottawa, Ontario recently. On the show from Ottawa, Smackdown star and current Money in the Bank contract holder Baron Corbin debuted some new entrance music. Corbin is currently in line for a major push in WWE and he could be winning the WWE Championship sooner rather than later. Receiving new music could be a sign that Corbin is getting some major attention soon. He is currently rumored to be facing John Cena at the SummerSlam pay-per-view later on this month. A snippet of Cobin’s new song can be heard on WWE’s Snapchat.
Speaking of WWE’s live events, on the Montreal and Ottawa shows, WWE paired together two new teams. The odd pairings saw Sin Cara and Luke Harper team up to face off against the equally puzzling pairing of Erick Rowan and Aiden English. It is unclear if the two teams were put together solely for these live events, but Harper and Cara defeated Rowan and English, for the record. Erick Rowan and Luke Harper are two of the rumored names that could be behind the recent attacks on Tyler Breeze and Fandango. We’ll have to wait and see what will become of these teams, or if Harper and Rowan will once again put their differences behind them.
It was recently reported that Brandi Rhodes departed Global Force Wrestling along with a few other talents. While she did not reveal her exact reasons for not re-signing, Rhodes did confirm that she chose not to sign a new contract recently. New GFW contracts do specify that 10% of all indy bookings, and 100% of all GFW merchandise sold, go towards the company now. It is unclear if that is the reason why she has decided to leave, but she is continuing her career in ROH and other independent promotions. Her exact statement on the issue reads as follows: “Anthem offered me a contract. I read the contract. It’s not something that, I’ll say this in the nicest way that I can, it’s not a contract that anyone with any value, any sense of self-value, or self-worth would sign. There’s no point in signing a contract to make you exclusive to one place if you’re not getting anything in return.”
