Rich Swann was suspended from WWE indefinitely for a domestic violence issue involving himself and his wife last year. Charges were later dropped, but WWE and Swann then “mutually agreed” to part ways a few months later. Swann recently went on a rant wherein he criticized promoters hiring Nick Gage (who once robbed a bank) instead of himself. Gage later responded to Swann’s statement. Not long after that, Swann sent out a series of tweets talking about how he lost his dream job in WWE. He also noted that he will be fulfilling the independent dates that he has agreed to, but he said that he plans on retiring from the ring as soon as his obligations are taken care of.
WWE recently confirmed on Monday Night Raw that they will be hosting a huge event in Australia later on this year. The event will reportedly be taking place in the Melbourne Cricket Ground, and the company is hoping to bring in around 100,000 people for the show. According to a new report from the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the plan is for WWE to broadcast the event on the WWE Network as a pay-per-view when it does take place. The deal was reportedly finalized a while back, but WWE has chosen to hold off on announcing more details for the event until WrestleMania is over. The event is rumored to be taking place in October, and it has been reported that Ronda Rousey will likely be used on that show as well.
Ronda Rousey and Brock Lesnar were two big names from the world of MMA who are now competing in professional wrestling. Both made a name for themselves in UFC before crossing over to WWE, but a former UFC Champion recently teased that he would be getting involved in wrestling soon. Fabricio Werdum has since denied that he will be meeting with WWE officials just one day after he claimed that he would be traveling to San Diego for a meeting later this week. Werdum told MMAFighting that he wanted to join a Mexican lucha libre promotion, but the original article has been updated to note that WWE was originally cited instead of said promotion. All mentions of WWE have since been removed from the original article.
