Opponents for NXT Stars at EVOLVE, Rollins Update, New Trademarks

The partnership with NXT and EVOLVE Wrestling is still going strong right now. WWE is constantly lending NXT stars to the promotion for their shows, and the trend will continue as Adam Cole and Kassius Ohno are set to appear in EVOLVE next month. Both men will be on the EVOLVE shows on May 10th in Livonia, Missouri and on May 11th in Indianapolis, Indiana. Their opponents for the shows have now been confirmed as well. Cole will be facing current EVOLVE Champion Austin Theory in a non-title match on the first night. Cole will team up with AR Fox to face Ayla and The Skulk the next night, and Ohno will battle Josh Briggs. Ohno will also work as a guest trainer during WWN’s tryout sessions in Indianapolis.

Fans were delighted to see Seth Rollins win the Universal Championship from Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania this year. The Raw brand now has a full time champion once again who will be featured on every show. Rollins does not have a challenger for the title just yet, but WWE.com is teasing that a “new superstar” will step up to face “The Kingslayer” for his title. This could mean that a new name from the NXT brand will be coming to Raw to face Rollins, or perhaps one of the new Raw members who moved from SmackDown this week will have a chance to win the title from Rollins. With Roman Reigns and Dean Ambrose now out of the picture on Raw, it ought to be interesting to see who will compete against the brand new Universal Champion.

WWE has just filed a long list of trademarks that could foreshadow some events that have yet to transpire this year. According to PWInsider, a trademark for the term “WWE Stomping Grounds” has just been filed by the company. There is no word yet on what exactly this phrase will be used for, but the trademark is listed for entertainment services and could be the name of a new wrestling show from WWE. Expect more information on this term to likely come out as the year goes on. Meanwhile, it was also reported that WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair has filed trademarks for “King of Drip” and “Founder of Swag.” These appear to be listed as potential names that Flair can use on future events and appearances.
