India’s latest observation satellite EMISAT, for the Defence Research Development Organisation (DRDO), along with 28 other customer satellites, took off smoothly today aboard the PSLV-C45 (Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle) from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota.

“There is increased demand for satellites from strategic sectors. About six/seven satellites are planned to be built,” a senior official told IANS on the condition of anonymity.
