The Egyptian joined Monaco on loan in the summer and a clause within the contract states that should El Shaarawy play 25 games for Monaco, then the Ligue 1 side are compelled to buy the player for €14m.
AC Milan now face two options. Cancel the loan agreement with Monaco and find the player another club to go to in January, most probably on loan or force ASM to continue paying the player’s wages, even though El Shaarawy will not be receiving anymore playing time this season.
A number of Serie A sides are reportedly interested in picking up the player next month.
