Speaking to L’Équipe, France boss Didier Deschamps spoke more warmly to the idea of possibly including Dimitri Payet in the next squad.

He had the following to say on the matter:

“Dimitri has always been good with his club. That was already the case at Marseille. For the national team, he made good entrances, he was good against Denmark, I do not forget that. It is not necessarily because there is huge competition that I will not pick him. And it is not necessarily because of a media campaign that I will pick him…”
