Nick Aldis Dethrones ‘American Nightmare’ Cody Rhodes to Become 2-Time NWA Worlds Champion at #NWA70

In the final moment of an historic night at the Tennessee State Fairgrounds, Nick Aldis defeated the “American Nightmare” Cody Rhodes in a Two Out of Three Falls match to win back the Ten Pounds of Gold, becoming a two-time NWA Worlds Heavyweight Champion.

While the live crowd in attendance at NWA’s milestone 70th anniversary pay-per-view was understandably upset by the crowning of a new, conquering champion, the King’s Lynn warrior won both the first and third fall of a brutal, grueling main event contest to put all doubt aside.

Aldis’ victory adds yet another prestigious title reign to the 31-year-old superstar’s already impresssive resume. A list that includes now two runs with the Ten Pounds of Gold, the TNA World Heavyweight Championship, GFW Heavyweight Championship, Pro Wrestling Noah’s GHC Tag Team Championships and even a reign alongside Doug Williams as the IWGP Heavyweight Tag Team Champions.
