Women’s Title Match Announced For WWE Super Showdown In Saudi Arabia

For just the second time in history, women will compete in a professional wrestling match in the country of Saudi Arabia.

WWE has officially announced that the Smackdown Women’s Championship will be defended on Thursday, February 27th at the WWE Super Showdown event in Riyadh.

In order to determine who will face Bayley for the title, which will be the first women’s title match in Saudi Arabia, Carmella and Naomi will wrestle in a #1 contender’s match next week on Friday Night Smackdown.

Nataly and Lacey Evans made history at WWE Crown Jewel in 2019, becoming the first two women to ever wrestle in the nation, which has some of the most extreme, restrictive laws for women anywhere in the world.

Both were covered from neck to toe, and worked a noticeably less aggressive style, with no worked punches or high-impact moves that were seen in most, if not all of the men’s matches on that same card.
