Best Denim Cutoff Shorts – Favorite Spain Outfit

My wardrobe is a sea of chic. I have the perfect dresses for client meetings, fantastic frocks for cocktail events, fabulous leather skirts, cutting-edge blazers and a rack dedicated to exquisite silk garments. This is all well and good for my career as a personal stylist, but is of no help for a hot summer day off with loved ones. For the past five summers, I was only slightly aware of this large summer casual gap in my wardrobe because I work so darn much, but this summer’s itinerary brought it to attention. With my trips to Spain and Malta in mind, I created a very comfortable-casual-cool summer wardrobe. Nothing elegant about it, as you can tell from my favorite look we photographed in Menorca, Spain.

Best Denim Cutoff Shorts

Interestingly enough, my favorite addition to my comfortable-casual-cool summer wardrobe is my Rag & Bone ‘Freeport’ denim cutoff shorts ($165). I have not owned and operated denim cutoffs in a loooong time. It was weird making the decision to pursue and purchase a garment I associate with my much younger, much more fun self, but that’s the point. I want to have more fun. I have been too fancy, too articulate, and too busy for too long. I want a garment that says, “Hey! I’m having fun. I’m freakin breezy.”

Finding the best denim cutoffs shorts for me was a thorough process.  Here were my requirements:

  1. Big enough in the waist with slim leg openings. (I have a wide-ish belly and slim legs.)
  2. Short, but not too short. (Aka hides the collection of flesh that sits at the top of my inner thighs, while still exposing as much skin as possible to the sun.)
  3. The perfect medium blue wash for a versatile worn in look.

I tried on about 10 denim shorts before finding the best denim cutoff shorts. Some great runners up to my favorite shorts include Treasure & Bond’s cuffed denim shorts ($68), Joe’s rolled denim shorts in Genna ($98), and Rag & Bone’s distressed cutoff shorts ($180). Sizing note: the Rag & Bone is running a bit big. Order one size down.

Breezy Summer Top

Perhaps you’ll will find this gross, but I wore this sleeveless Paige top almost everyday. If I didn’t wear it out and about, I wore it to bed. It is made of super light cotton, and I adore the feel of it. I feel sexy, light and relaxed in it. Plus it goes with everything. I tied it in a knot, as pictured, with a sarong, my stretchy light grey Loft skirt, and obviously with my denim cutoff shorts. You can also tuck it into jeans or throw it over a bikini. This top is magic to me. It epitomizes my new summer persona.

Calaphya Silk Scarf

The best part of this outfit is the Calaphya silk scarf tied around my wrist. Without it, I am just another lady in cutoff shorts. Beyond the unusual placement of the scarf, the 35 x 35 Risen Scarf is unique in and of itself. It is digitally printed with a dream like bird that extends out into pastel and jewel tone feathers, waves and shapes. As Calaphya touts, the scarf is art.

White Rhea Non-Slip Flip-Flops

I was delighted when Rhea sent me the Eva White non-slip sandals right before my trip to Spain. A white sandal is like a white top: they go with absolutely everything. The white flip-flops were a fantastic asset to this trip. Besides their versatility, they practically repel dirt and are truly no-slip. I tested their tread thoroughly by climbing all over these rocks and on the slippery tile by the pool in our villa. I am incredibly impressed by the cushion, the flexibility, and the discreet look of Rhea’s effective tread. My only issue is its comfort endurance. After a few hours of walking, the straps rubbed a spot red on both sides of my feet.

The Accouterments

I recently put this Nadri earring on a client and had to have it for myself as well. I love to pair it with my Nadri ‘Geo’ pendant necklace. The addition of the bling to this laid back look is perfection. I have always loved the saying, “diamonds and denim.” It’s a lovely juxtaposition that makes me feel dressed up even when I’m dressed down. To compliment these jewels, I added my Melinda Maria ring, Alexis Bittar cocktail ring, and my Kris Nations bracelets. I topped it all off with the retro inspired Marc Jacobs sunglasses.

The victim will receive unsolicited contact from the fraudster informing them that they have won a big prize but must pay a minor fee to claim their award. It may be anything from a car, a house, or a vacation but there is never any cash reward.

2. Phishing attempts to steal your personal information:

Gift cards can be used to deceive people into divulging their personal information. The receiver is solicited via email, SMS, or social media with the prospect of a huge gift card balance, similar to a traditional phishing assault. To claim it, customers must provide some personal and perhaps financial information, which the fraudster will either sell on the dark web or use for identity theft.

3. In-store card manipulation:

Scammers aren’t limited to the internet. Another common ruse is to go to stores that sell gift cards and take the numbers/secret PINs. They’ll go to great measures to conceal their activities, such as recovering PINs using a sticker. They may wait until the victim goes online to register and load funds onto the card before using it online or manufacturing a duplicate for in-store usage, depending on the card.

4. Using bots to steal your balance:

The bad guys may go right to the source and look for a digital record of your gift card with the issuer. What are their methods for accomplishing this? By probing bank-end IT systems at merchants and other organizations for information on card balances and numbers with automated bots. They can use the card as if they were the official cardholder with this information.

5. A threatening official demand payment:

Someone claiming to be from the Federal/State Inland Revenue Service(FIRS/SIRS), the police, or another government entity may call you. Hang up if this caller tries to scare you into buying gift cards to pay for back taxes or other legal issues. This caller is a scammer. Even if the caller is aware of your secret documents and reads them out loud, this is a hoax. The caller may become angry or insulting, threatening to arrest you or suspend your business or driver’s license. To address tax or other legal difficulties, the FIRS, police, or any other government institution will never accept payment in the form of gift cards.

To avoid these cyber fraudsters, you should take note of these strategies which they usually deploy on their targets. It is important to note that no government agency will ever ask you to make payment with gift cards, so any of such requests you may get is a scam. It is also important to keep your gift card codes secret to avoid divulging them carelessly to criminals.

The Importance Of The Reciprocating Screw In An Injection Moldin

The single greatest innovation in the 20th century for improving plastic injection molding comes from one of history’s original and most basic machine types: the screw. Let’s take a closer look at the ingenious application of this simple design and how it improves the plastic injection molding process.

How Was Plastic First Injected?

Prior to the 1950s, all injection molding was done with a relatively simple barrel and plunger system. The solid plastic pellets were simply heated in a barrel using a basic temperature control system. When the plastic became sufficiently liquified by heat, a plunger pushed the molten plastic through the barrel and into the mold. But this technique had many drawbacks.

What Were Some of the Drawbacks of the Early Injection Molding Machines?

The main problem with the original design was the uneven distribution of heat throughout the molten plastic. To get the interior mass of the plastic up to injection temperature, more heat was applied to the walls of the barrel. Conducting this heat uniformly was difficult to do consistently and there was always a risk of overheating the external mass. And when plastic is kept too hot for too long it rapidly degrades.

To overcome this, plastic was kept cooler in the barrel to avoid degrading, and therefore required much higher injection pressures and much longer injection cycles. Both of these compromises introduced constraints in the design of the tooling and the finished products made from them, as well as of the chemical constituency of the plastic raw material itself.

When Were Reciprocating Screws Introduced Into Injection Molding Machines?

Reciprocating screws were developed in the mid-1950s and by 1960 they quickly began to supplant the older systems in Europe and the United States. The great advantage of the reciprocating screw design is that it helped to manage temperature in three critical ways.

How Did the Reciprocating Screw Eliminate the Core Heating Problem?

Because the screw runs through the center of the barrel on an injection molding machine, it displaces the inner core of raw material, thereby eliminating one source of unequal heating.

Without the core being overheated, there is less danger of the plastic degrading during processing. 

What is the Purpose of the Flights on the Reciprocating Screw?

The flights on the reciprocating screw perform several important functions.

First, they help to move the plastic through the barrel. As the pellets are fed from the hopper into the barrel the screw is rotated, driving the material forward while more pellets are added.Secondly, the flights provide a continuous mixing action that distributes heat evenly throughout the mass.

Not incidentally, this mixing also helps to purge the mechanism of different material and color left behind from any earlier production run on the same machine.

How Does the Reciprocating Screw Help to Heat Plastic Resin?

The reciprocating screw is responsible for providing the majority of heat to the thermoforming plastic. This is because the diameter of the screw increases as it approaches the tip. Plastic pellets being pulled along by the flights are compressed into a tighter space and sheared, or cut, by the action of the turning flights. This action creates friction that mixes the pellets to a uniform consistency and heats them to the proper temperature.

By the time the plastic reaches the tip, 60% ~ 90% of the heat required to melt it has come from the screw, not the heated barrel.

How Does the Reciprocating Screw Hold Consistent Injection Pressures?

The final advantage of the screw comes in the form of a check ring that maintains consistent pressure at the tip of the screw where it enters the nozzle.

When enough molten plastic has filled the barrel in front of the tip, the reciprocating screw is plunged forward to inject the resin into the mold.As the mold fills it will try to resist this compression, which forces the check ring back against the thrust ring. This effectively locks off any back pressure so the screw can now fully pack the mold.

Are All Reciprocating Screws Made Alike?

Bi-metal reciprocating screws resist the deteriorating effects of abrasive plastic like polystyrene or corrosive plastic such as PVC, which can potentially produce chlorine gas as it’s heated. Bi-metal screws are more expensive but they’re much more durable and will keep production machines running longer without downtime for maintenance. Also, as screws wear down over time this will adversely affect temperature and pressure within the barrel. Bi-metal screws are better able to maintain process control parameters for consistent production.

The 6 Normal Processes for Making Prototype Parts

The show is always better than the words, the experience is the kingly way. Although skipping prototyping during the design process can save some time, it is likely to waste more time during the development process. If people are used to trying before buying pants, and trial run before buying a car, then it would be sensible to test your design with prototype parts before the development phase.

CNC Machining for Prototype Parts

There is no single answer as to how to make a prototype and which process to use. The following describes a process that is primarily used to process prototypes in the rapid prototyping field – CNC machining. It is different from 3D printing, and it is subtractive manufacturing. Usually, the supplier gets a project and goes through the following steps.

1. Analyze the processing drawings and determine the processing

According to the processing drawings provided by the customer, the staff can analyze the shape, dimensional accuracy, surface roughness, workpiece material, blank type, and heat treatment status of the part. Then select the machine tool, the tool, determine the positioning and clamping device, the processing method, the processing sequence, and the amount of cutting.

In the process of determining the machining process, the instruction function of the CNC machine tool used should be fully considered, and the efficiency of the machine tool should be fully utilized to achieve a reasonable processing route, a small number of passes, and a short processing time.

2. Reasonably calculate the coordinate value of the tool path

According to the geometrical dimensions of the machined parts and the programmed coordinate system, the motion track of the center of the path is calculated to obtain all the tool position data. Generally, the numerical control system has the functions of linear interpolation and circular interpolation. For contour processing of flat shapes with simple shapes (such as parts composed of straight lines and circular arcs), only the starting point, end point, and arc of the geometric elements need to be calculated. The center of the circle (or the radius of the arc), the intersection of the two geometric elements, or the coordinate value of the tangent point.

If the CNC system has no tool compensation function, the coordinate value of the motion path of the tool center is calculated. For parts with complex shapes (such as parts consisting of non-circular curves and curved surfaces), straight lines (or arc segments) are required to approximate the actual curve or surface, and the coordinates of the nodes are calculated according to the required machining accuracy.

3. Write part CNC machining program

According to the tool path of the part, the tool movement track data and the determining process parameters and auxiliary actions are calculated. The programmer can program the parts according to the function instructions and block format specified by the CNC system. At the time of writing, it should be noted that: first, the normativeness of program writing should be easy to express and communicate; secondly, on the basis of the full familiarity with the performance and instructions of the CNC machine tools used, the techniques used in each instruction and the skills of programming the program segment.

4. Purchase materials

The general machining materials are metal and plastic. The metal is mainly aluminum, stainless steel, sheet metal, magnesium alloy, titanium alloy and the like. Plastic materials are ABS, PMMA, PC, PP, POM, etc.

5. CNC machining process

The first step in processing the material onto the machine is rough cut. Roughing should use a larger knife as much as possible to quickly remove a large amount of workpiece material with a large amount of cutting within the range of machine power or tool tolerance. In order to prevent the workpiece from loosening due to the cutting vibration during rough machining, it should be checked in time after opening and re-aligning if necessary.
For workpieces with complex cavities, because of the large tool used for opening and roughing, a large amount of residual space remains in the corners, and it is necessary to perform secondary roughing or clear-up corners with a tool smaller than that in roughing. When the machining area is relatively large, semi-finishing can be performed to reduce tool loss.
In order to prevent overcutting, the above steps must be left with a sufficient margin and finally the finishing process. Under normal circumstances, try to check on the machine tool, remove it after passing the test, and then prepare the next piece of processing.

6. Finish

There is a variety of finishing options for surface treatment after machining the CNC parts, including manual cornering, sandblasting, polishing, sandblasting, painting, silkscreen, plating, oxidation, etc.

Cleanup corners: Due to the congenital defects in CNC machining, the structural clearing angle cannot be fully in place. Almost all the engraved and milled workpieces need to be manually chiseled with specific tools, and then the assembly relationship is adjusted.

Smoothing: It is part of the surface treatment during the production of prototype parts. Generally, the hand board needs to be polished after being machined by the machine CNC, because the surface of the hand board will have some burrs, knife marks, etc. Sanding paper is needed for sanding and it has different sandpaper. Grade, the smaller the number, the thicker the sand, the larger the number, the smaller the sand.

Polishing: Generally, both PMMA and PC need to be polished to achieve a transparent or mirror effect.

Sandblasting: Sandblasting can remove the burrs on the surface of the part (smaller), make the surface form a small pit, prepare for the subsequent surface processing, form the pressure layer on the surface, and improve the surface fatigue resistance.

Painting: Spray paint has a protective and beautiful effect. The supplier is coloring according to the Pantone or RAL number given by the customer.

Silkscreen: In the process that you need to print the logo, you can choose the color.

Plating: It is a process of attaching a metal film to the surface of a metal or other material by electrolysis to prevent metal oxidation (such as rust), improve wear resistance, electrical conductivity, light reflectivity, corrosion resistance (copper sulfate, etc.) ) and enhance the appearance of beauty.

Oxidation: It is a wide-ranging process for overcoming the defects of aluminum alloy surface hardness and wear resistance, expanding the application range, and prolonging the service life.
