January 23, 2018

– Big E and Carmella are out first wearing matching tights that say “FABULOUS” across the front. They start pulling pancakes out of everywhere and ate a few before throwing them at fans.

The Miz convinces his partner to let him start off first and he tries to lock up with Big E, but the New Day member is so ridiculously swoll any normal rest hold are basically useless. E locks in an abdominal stretch and starts literally smacking his opponent’s ass, and the brand new Intercontinental Champion ran for the hills.

Asuka tagged in and Carmella looked like she was trying to figure out how to get out of this match. She reluctantly got in the ring but Big E had a plan, going under the ring and revealing a giant letter “L”, as they’ve been cutting promos promising to give Asuka “her first L” in the tournament. The Empress accepts the gift and then rips it to pieces, foam flying everywhere as Carmella screams and runs away in fear.

Things slow down as Big E is forced to come back in and gets caught by a cheap move from The Miz. The big man gets some momentum going and uses his power and size to throw around the Intercontinental Champion, but Asuka cleverely provides enough distraction on the apron to keep Miz in complete control for several minutes driving elbows and knees home in the corner, over and over again. Miz hits the Daniel Bryan kicks and looks for the Skull Crushing Finale, but E sends him flying and makes the hot tag to his partner.

Carmella realized what just happened and slowly gets in the ring, accepting her face as Asuka stares a hole into hour soul. The Miz tries to pump up his partner but it was more of a distraction then anything and Carmella came out of nowhere with a spinning back fist that dumped the Empress on her behind. The great offensive strike didn’t exactly last long though, as Asuka caught her in an armbar out of nowhere and got the submission victory.

Winners: Asuka & The Miz

– After the match Asuka cuts a promo in Japanese and Miz “translates” for her, claiming that she’s never learned more in her career than in the short time spent with the greatest Intercontinental Champion in WWE history. I’m sure that’s what he said… He declared they would go on to win the Mixed Match Challenge because they are… AWESUKA!

Who Is Favored to Win The Two WWE Royal Rumble Tag Team Title Matches?

The following odds have been sourced by Paddy Power, which accepts players from Ireland, The UK and other countries.

The opening odds have been set for both the Raw and Smackdown Championships and sees both sets of challengers as favorites, though not by much. In both cases, this does not necessarily indicate any championships changing hands due to the infamous “champion’s advantage” stipulation that forbids a title switch due to a count out or disqualification outcome.

On the Raw side of the tag team division, it is Cesaro and Sheamus(The Bar) who are favored to win at -150. The Bar will be challenging Seth Rollings and Jason Jordan, who hold the titles currently and have odds of +100, an even bet. This is extremely close currently.

On the Smackdown end, the Champions are also not the team that is favored to win. The Usos, who are the current champions, have odds of +120 making them the slightest of underdogs. Chad Gable and Shelton Benjamin, the challengers, are favored at -162 and this will be a classic two out of three falls match.

As for the rest of the card, there have been no major changes overnight. Brock Lesnar is still favored to retain the Universal Championship Triple Threat Match, AJ Styles is still the favorite in the Handicap Match for the WWE Championship and both Shinsuke Nakamura and Ronda Rousey are projected to win the Men’s and Women’s WWE Royal Rumble Matches respectively.

As usual, the most accurate odds in regards to final outcomes will be available the day of the WWE Royal Rumble itself.

Roman took one hell of a beating in this No Disqualification match, with the mischievous Chris Jericho trapped in a shark cage suspended high above the ring. He was splashed through a table by a very large man, assaulted with steel chairs, powerslammed through the announce table, and practically murdered by an angry Braun Strowman who felt compelled to get involved.

For all those who endlessly complain about Roman “always going over”, consider that he lost this match with the world title on the line, elevated Owens and Jericho to a crucial point for their story to really take off, and simultaneously put over a new up-and-coming star in the process.

Ever since winning the first ever Women’s Royal Rumble, Asuka has kept which championship she will be challenging for at WWE WrestleMania 34 a secret.

After the Elimination Chamber, we now know that the Raw Women’s Champion will be Alexa Bliss, whilst Charlotte Flair has to go through Ruby Riott to earn her spot at WrestleMania at WWE Fastlane.

According to an online report by PWInsider.com, it doesn’t matter what happens at Fastlane as the Empress of Tomorrow will be challenging Alexa Bliss for the Raw Women’s Championship.

Expected Top WWE WrestleMania Card

In the same report, PWInsider.com suggests what the top of the WWE WrestleMania 34 card will be in New Orleans this April, with the following matches expected to be the highlights:

-WWE Universal champion Brock Lesnar vs. Roman Reigns.

-WWE champion AJ Styles vs. Shinsuke Nakamura.

-Ronda Rousey & Kurt Angle vs. Triple H & Stephanie McMahon

-WWE Raw Women’s champion Alexa Bliss vs. Asuka.

-WWE Cruiserweight championship tournament final.

-Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal.

Of course, this is not confirmed, and whilst those matches are all very likely there are many other top matches that could be announced featuring the likes of John Cena, Charlotte, and The Usos.

PWInsider.com has pointed out that the YouTube clip of Rey Mysterio returning to WWE TV in the Royal Rumble match over the weekend has performed significantly better than the clip of Ronda Rousey making her WWE debut.

Titus O’Neil Creates ‘Black Panther’ Movie Challenge

The Tampa Bay Times recently caught up with Titus O’Neil, who is participating in the “Black Panther” movie challenge, and during the interview O’Neil had the following to say on why he is partaking in the challenge:

“I’m 40 years old and I’ve never seen a Marvel character that looked like me, as an African-American male,” Bullard said.

“This will be the first time I’ve seen a superhero on screen that looks like me and I want kids to not only be able to see superheroes on the screen but also to view themselves as superheroes.

“If they see that on screen, then maybe they can be the next doctor or lawyer or president, whatever they can be. This could be a great teaching moment if we can get them into theaters.”

Alexa Bliss Accuses Kurt Angle of Being Sexist, Identity of Nia Jax’s WWE RAW Opponent Revealed & More

Miss Bliss Calls Angle a “Sexist”

It was quite the week for women’s wrestling on Monday Night RAW with the ladies of the red brand occupying an all-time high number of segments on the show. We saw three women’s matches including Asuka and Nia Jax in singles action, plus multiple backstage and in-ring talking segments.

During one of those segments, RAW General Manager Kurt Angle announced all five women who will face Alexa Bliss for the RAW Women’s Championship at the upcoming Elimination Chamber pay-per-view. This brought out the “Goddess” who complained that Brock Lesnar does not have to defend his title on February 25th, accusing Angle and WWE management of treating her and the women’s roster unfairly.

You can watch the segment between Bliss and Angle above. Interestingly enough, they actually cut out the line where the champion called the WWE Hall of Famer a “sexist”.

Nia Jax’s WWE Raw Opponent

Nia Jax won a relatively quick squash match on this week’s episode of WWE RAW as she gets ready to face the undefeated “Empress” Asuka at this month’s WWE Elimination Chamber pay-per-view. If she manages to get past the former NXT Women’s Champion on February 25th, she will earn a spot in the RAW Women’s Championship match at WrestleMania 34, no matter who her other opponents are.

The young lady who lost to Nia this week was introduced as “Vanessa Floyd” prior to the match, but we’ve identified her as midwest wrestler Savanna Stone. Stone is a former Zero1 USA Women’s Champion, trained by Michael Elgin, and has worked for promotions like Glory Pro in St. Louis and Freelance Wrestling in Chicago.

Asuka’s Body Count Rises

Nia Jax wasn’t the only women on the RAW roster in action this week. In fact, there were quite a few more women’s segments on the latest show than usual. After picking up a definitive victory over “The Boss” Sasha Banks last week, Asuka continued her undefeated streak by knocking off another of the self-proclaimed Four Horsewomen: Bayley.
