The South Dakota State University wrestling team closes out the 2018-19 dual season with Big 12 Conference matches both on the road and at home.

Action is set for 6 p.m. at Lloyd Noble Center on the OU campus in Norman, Oklahoma, and can be viewed through FOX Sports Oklahoma and online at SoonerSports.com. The Jackrabbits have drawn even in the series by winning each of the last two duals. SDSU posted a 20-19 victory on criteria during the 2016-17 season before recording a 22-13 win at Oklahoma last season.

Martin Mueller recorded a 14-1 major decision over Matt Waddell in the 184-pound matchup, while Nate Rotert and Alex Macki both won by decision at 197 pounds and heavyweight, respectively.

After several spectacular transfers, bad result in the World Championship and the final countdown – Polish fans once again feel the taste of the volleyball.
Ryan Millar, Matej Cernic, Georg Grozer … These are just some of the most famous of transfers this season. Recent months have been extremely hot due to a number of excellent volleyball players, who will join the Polish league. This Friday for the eleventh time, fight for the Polish championship will begin. Which teams have the best chances for gold, and why?
Traditionally, the favorite is Skra Belchatow. However, in last few years it’s getting more difficult to talk about only one candidate to final victory. This time, Skra did not make many changes in their squad. The most important was to recruit a new libero – a young Pawel Zatorski, who has already made his debut in the national team. Zatorski had great performances in the AZS Czestochowa. In addition, Pawel Woicki moved to Belchatow from Bydgoszcz. In last season Woicki lost his place in the Polish national team. Apart from a few “fresh” names, in Skra we will see the “old” players of the current Polish champion, such as Mariusz Wlazly, Michal Winiarski, Miquel Falasca, Stephane Antiga, etc.
Zaksa Kedzierzyn-Kozle is one of the most dangerous rivals of Skra. Club persuaded to return two Polish stars – Pawel Zagumny and Sebastian Swiderski. They will be the main hope for fans of the gold medal. A promising sign is also contracting Patryk Czarnowski (great middle blocker from Jastrzebski Wegiel) and Piotr Gacek (libero from Skra). Polish fans are curious to see the game of Tine Urnaut (from Slovenia) who came to Plus Liga from the Italian Copra Piacenza. There is no doubt that the young coach, Andrzej Stelmach has a good chance that in his short career he will be fighting for the Polish championship.
Besides Zaksa, the appetite for victory has again Resovia Rzeszow. Last season, they overcame Kedzierzyn-Kozle in the bronze medal matches, but it was not the summit of Ljubo Travica’s ambition. Team from the south will strengthen the real stars. Polish volleyball world is excited about joining the players such as Ryan Millar, Georg Grozer and Matej Cernic. After the departure of Rafael Redwitz, the governors of the club hired Michal Baranowicz – volleyball player, who has Italian and Polish citizenship. Baranowicz had never played in Poland. In Rzeszow stayed players such as Krzysztof Ignaczak, Aleh Akhrem, Wojciech Grzyb, etc.. For several years, Rzeszow team was fighting for gold, how it will be this time?
Fans of Jastrzebski Wegiel can be worried. Currently they are vice-champions of Poland- this means that they will play in the Champions League. However, the current team is not impressive. First of all, they changed the coach – it is not anymore Roberto Santilli. He was replaced by Igor Prielozny, who (in the past) achieved the biggest titles with this team. Russian, Pavel Abramov also left – last season he was a one of key players of Jastrzebie. What is interesting – Abramov and Santilli went to the same club – Iskra Odincovo. New players in the JV are: Marcin Wika, Mitja Gasparini and Lukas Divis. The team will certainly fight very strongly, but “on paper” are the other teams on the top of the race.
Other teams are not tipped for medals. AZS Czestochowa will show from a good side for sure- this team always manages to surprise. David Murek returned to the game (after a terrible injury from last year), Krzysztof Gierczynski came back to Czestochowa (from Resovia) – he has been Czestochowa’s player for many ears (including the role of a capitain). Czestochowa has a new first coach Marek Kardos (instead of Grzegorz Wagner). Mixture of youth and experience has always functioned perfectly in Czestochowa.
AZS Olsztyn may fight for 5th place in the schedule. In sparring meetings, team of Mariusz Sordyl look good, the fans are optimistic for the upcoming season. Samuel Tuia, Marcel Gromadowski, Wojciech Ferens – among other players, they are designed to provide a satisfactory level of matches in this year. A great libero, Marcin Mierzejewski (from Zaksa) also joined the team – Olsztyn wants to rebuild their power step by step.
Big stars, promising configurations, European Cups – all this make polish volley more and more exciting. Long marathon of matches starts on Friday, halls will be full of enthusiastic supporters, and the level of the game – we hope – will rise again.

Allin defeated Jimmy Havoc on tonight’s episode of AEW Dynamite to get the title shot against Jericho. At the end of a hard-fought match, Allin bit Havoc’s hand, landed a stunner, and pinned Havoc with a Coffin Drop.

Jericho is scheduled to defend his title against Cody Rhodes at AEW’s Full Gear pay-per-view on November 9. Allin and Cody went to a 20-minute time limit draw at Fyter Fest in June.

F4W NEWSLETTER: WWE’s draft missed opportunity Joseph Currier looks at how the draft failed to establish a unique identity for SmackDown on FOX.
With a chance to establish a unique identity on FOX, this year’s draft was a missed opportunity for WWE.
The draft was an early indication of what WWE will look like on FOX. Following up on a loaded premiere episode, it gave SmackDown an opportunity to define itself as a FOX property. WWE had the full weight of the network behind them, complete with pre-taped appearances by FOX’s biggest sports personalities. But instead of leaning in to that identity, WWE gave mixed messages.
Ever since WWE struck their deal with FOX, there’s been some question about how SmackDown would fit into the network’s portfolio. It’s categorized as part of FOX Sports, with WWE Backstage even airing weekly on FS1. SmackDown gives FOX the benefit of having live programming on Fridays for 52 weeks out of the year, but it’s really more of a hybrid between sports and a weekly television show. WWE is never going to be — and shouldn’t be — a promotion that presents itself as a pure sport. The beauty of pro wrestling is that you can create the over-the-top spectacle that sports can only wish to achieve. With appearances by Cain Velasquez and Tyson Fury on the FOX premiere, it seemed like WWE was going to be taking SmackDown in that direction.

Chris Jericho responded to the criticism Marko Stunt has received after wrestling on Dynamite this week: “Laughing at ppl complaining that @MarkoStunt is too small & a ‘disgrace to pro wrestling!’ Funny thing is I thought the same thing about @reymysterio the first time I met him in 93. I also saw @TheUltimoDragon get REAMED out by his boss when he first brought Rey to Japan in 95. #DeanMalenko got laughed out of #WCW locker room when he stood up for Rey before their first match in Aug 96. Both men were congratulated afterwards after ppl saw Rey work. Times have changed & Marko IS small. But most of the workers on the roster are smaller in 2019 then the 90s. Bottom line: Over is over & #Marko did a good job of getting over on Wed. Whether he ends up a World Champion like Rey did remains to be seen…but I’d rather watch him than a 6’8 musclehead who can’t move. I was once told I was ‘too small’ to be a wrestler too…& I did ok!”
Ring announcer Justin Roberts announced that he’s officially signed an AEW contract: “Breaking ‘news’: 5 years to the week when it ended and I thought my final announcement had been made, the Khantract has been signed and it’s officially time to begin, again. Thank you to every one of you who has supported me over the years and asked me to ‘come back’. And thank you to AEW for believing in me. Tony, Cody, Nick, Matt, Kenny, Brandi, Dana, Chris’ and Co. have created something so special and as a fan and as an announcer, I am beyond excited and HAPPY to be part of it. #ImWithAEW #butonpapernow #BeginAgain #AEW #AEWDynamite #FollowYourDreams and just as importantly #NEVERGIVEUPONYOURDREAMS”

Dana White spoke about Khabib Nurmagomedov getting to help decide his next fight: “Khabib is the man now. Conor isn’t the man anymore, so Khabib gets to sit back and call the shots.”
McGregor tweeted in response to White’s comments: “Who’s not the man? Your man had that marquee event did he? More like an event in a marquee. A tent in the f*cking sand it was. Keep spoofing to your self horse. Jock strap sniffer championships.”
White said McGregor vs. Frankie Edgar isn’t going to happen: “That Frankie Edgar isn’t going to happen. Frankie is two weight classes below him. (Edgar) is in a position; he was supposed to fight Aljamain Sterling, and Aljamain fell out and got hurt. Frankie’s coming to the end of his career, and he could end up getting himself into a title position again. So to take the Conor fight makes no sense.”
After Colby Covington said he would slap White in the face if he tries to put the title around Covington’s waist if he defeats Kamaru Usman, White responded: “Good luck with that. He’s a big-mouth f*cking idiot.”
Greg Hardy’s win over Ben Sosoli from last night’s UFC show was changed to a no contest due to Hardy using an inhaler between the second and third rounds.

MAIN TAPING
The main show commenced with the first four matches all being quarter final tournament matches with 20 minute time limits.
(1) Zack Gibson defeated Jack Gallagher. These men have fought up and down the country and around the wild for many years, so they had an expectedly brilliant match. Gallagher played a complete baby face role, opposing his 205 Live persona. Gibson trapped Gallagher in the Shankly Gates submission for a quick tap out in roughly 15 minutes.
(2) Joe Coffey defeated Dave Mastiff. These big men had a tremendous encounter, full of great power moves from Coffey. Mastiff missed his cannonball finish, which left him open for Coffey “All the Best for the Bells” lariat. Coffey was interviewed after the match and he stated his confidence going into winning the tournament and beating Pete Dunne tomorrow for the UK title.
(3) Flash Morgan Webster defeated Jordan Devlin. Another nice match here, though shorter than I’d have liked it. Devlin hit a tremendous Spanish Fly from the top rope, but Webster rallied and hit the Eton Rifle for the pin. I’d love to see these two go at it for longer another time.
(4) Travis Banks defeated Ashton Smith. After three tremendous matches, this was the slightly weaker of the quarter finals, though both men did well. The crowd were firmly behind Banks, with Smith being relatively unknown by comparison. It was still a decent match, with Banks hitting the Kiwi Krusher to advance.
The fifth match was due to be a four way match to determine a contender for Shayna Baszler at tomorrow’s show. Isla Dawn, Killer Kelly, Toni Storm and Jinny began their match in fine form with lots of action. Unfortunately, a dive from Dawn onto Jinny and Kelly on the floor left Jinny knocked out. After Storm also dove to the floor, referee Drake Wuertz threw up the dreaded “X” signal and stopped the match. Jinny was helped to the back, thankfully being able to walk. Later I had heard through reliable sources that she was okay.
Next up Triple H made his way to the ring. He started by saying that we should never discredit the risks that the performers take for our entertainment. He then said that although one of them was down, the other three would come back out to finish the match.
He then introduced UK GM Johnny Saint. They announced the new NXT UK division and listed the dates for tapings and new Women’s and Tag Team title divisions. All this information can be found in the news section.
(5) Toni Storm defeated Isla Dawn and Killer Kelly to become No. 1 contender to the NXT Women’s Championship. The participants did well to carry on with this match, although I could see that Storm was still quite shook up from what had happened with Jinny. Kelly and Dawn did the lions share of the work here, and acquitted themselves nicely despite being the less well known participants. Storm took Kelly out of the ring and laid Dawn out with her over the shoulder neckbreaker for the win. Shayna Baszler was then seen on the front row staring down Storm.
(6) Zack Gibson defeated Flash Morgan Webster in a semi final match. Surprisingly short at around five minutes, they packed a great amount into it. Flash got caught on a dive which Gibson turned into a Helter Skelter on the floor. Webster beat the count but immediately tapped out to the Shankly Gates. Gibson submission hold was being put over very strong tonight with almost instant tap outs.
Aleister Black and Ricochet were then presented at ringside.
(7) Travis Banks defeated Joe Coffey in a semi-final match. This was a very close encounter between these two. Coffey came in with seemingly injured ribs. Really good stuff here as Banks squeaked out a win with a roll up.
As the result was announced and Banks had his hand raised, Coffey snapped and attacked him. He threw Banks shoulder first into the ring post and hit his lariat. This left Banks vulnerable for his final with Gibson, as the Shankly Gates focuses on the shoulder.
(8) British Strong Style (Trent Seven & Tyler Bate & Pete Dunne) defeated Undisputed Era (Adam Cole & Kyle O’Reilly & Roderick Strong). This match was absolutely fantastic. Action throughout, with every participant getting an amazing crowd response. Dunne took Cole & Strong out with a moonsault to the floor, while Bate & Seven hit O’Reilly with a rebound lariat / dragon suplex combo for the win. Go out of your way to see this match!
It was announced that Tyler Bate and Trent Seven would get an NXT tag title shot against Strong & O’Reilly the next night.
Shawn Michaels made his way out next to a thunderous reaction. The crowd sang along heartily to HBK’s entrance music. After a one more match chant, Michaels said little of any consequence but just stated that he was honoured to have been in the first ever WWE match in the Royal Albert Hall in 1991 (which, fun fact, I was present for) and that the NXT UK brand would continue to produce great things for this country.
(9) UK Championship tournament final – Zack Gibson defeated Travis Banks to win the tournament and gain a title shot tomorrow night. Banks entered the match with his left arm and shoulder heavily bandaged. Of course, Gibson focused his attack on the injury. This was a great main event of around 25 minutes. Banks was caught in the Gates, but resisted the pain and made it to the ropes. He kicked out of a Helter Skelter, while Gibson kicked out of a Kiwi Krusher. Banks missed a Slice of Heaven and Gibson applied the Gates again. Banks almost made the ropes, but was manoeuvred away. Banks had no choice but to tap, making Gibson the second ever winner of the WWE UK Championship tournament.
Triple H, HBK and Johnny Saint all congratulated Banks as he made his way back and posed with the winner Gibson in the ring. Just as Gibson went to start one of his trademark promos, Pete Dunne made his way out as well. They argued and Dunne slapped Gibson.
Gibson was left to perform a killer promo to end the night. Should be very interesting to see what happens tomorrow night. Overall, a good night of action. Tomorrow sees Pete Dunne vs Zack Gibson for the UK title, Adam Cole defending the North American title against Wolfgang, Moustache Mountain challenging Undisputed Era for the tag titles and the team of EC3 and Velveteen Dream vs Aleister Black and Ricochet.
