U.S. District Judge Matthew F. Leitman gave Rene Boucher the additional sentence of eight months in prison and six months on home confinement, the Lexington Herald Leader reported. The new punishment came after prosecutors had argued the initial sentence did not appropriately reflect the injuries Paul endured from the attack.

“There’s absolutely no downplaying the seriousness of the harm you visited on Sen. Paul and his family,” Leitman said, according to the Bowling Green Daily News.

Boucher was originally sentenced to serve 30 days in jail, complete 100 hours of community service and pay a $10,000 fine. A federal appeals court vacated the 30-day sentence last year, saying it was too lenient and granting prosecutors the chance to try to get a tougher punishment.

Prosecutors had argued for an at least 21 month sentence, citing the senator’s injuries, including six broken ribs and cases of pneumonia. Assistant U.S. Attorney Brad Shepard indicated the government may appeal the sentence, according to the Lexington Herald Leader.

Boucher’s lawyer Matthew J. Baker asserted the original sentence, which Boucher had already served, was fitting for his client and an additional sentence would punish him again for the same crime. He also noted Boucher was ordered to pay $582,000 to Paul last year.

The defendant apologized for the 2017 attack during the sentencing saying, “What I did was egregiously wrong.”

“I broke several ribs, I don’t feel good about that,” he said, according to the Bowling Green Daily News. “I’m embarrassed. I’m sorry for what (the Pauls) have gone through, and I’m sorry to my family for what I’ve dragged them through. I brought on all this embarrassment.”

Boucher will remain free as prosecutors decide whether or not to file an appeal to the sentence.

The 2017 attack occurred when Boucher grew upset after Paul was completing yard work and placed debris near their shared property line.

The Hill has reached out to Paul’s office and Boucher’s lawyer.

Jerry Lawler in new Netflix documentary
Netflix debuted a new documentary on Friday night called “Jim and Andy: The Great Beyond” interviewing Jim Carrey about his portrayal of Andy Kaufman 18 years ago.
The documentary features footage never previously released showing Carrey remaining in character as Kaufman and alter ego Tony Clifton during the entire filming process.
WWE Hall of Famer Jerry “The King” Lawler is featured in the documentary when he played himself in the movie released in 1999. It’s a fascinating look at Carrey refusing to break character behind-the-scenes with Lawler, including a tense moment while recreating the interactions between Lawler and Kaufman in the Memphis wrestling territory.

WWE recently added some job availabilities to their corporate website. Here are the key responsibilities WWE asks for in potential writers:

“Develop and implement creative storylines for broadcast and the WWE Network

Collaborate with a team of Road-based and Home-based Writers to build compelling RAW/ Smackdown stories that capture the audience and generate buzz

Consistently improve and refine storylines
Use consumer insights and social media to deliver impactful storylines that are consistent with the WWE brand and each talent’s skills and history”
The company also lists a wealth of qualifications they require or would like from applicants interested in the job:

“Minimum of five years of TV/Film writing and production experience

Experience in all aspects of live TV production a plus

Highly creative (a prolific idea generator)

Alberto El Patron has his hands on many different projects including Combate Americas and The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reported that he’s trying to recruit controversial wrestler Sexy Star.

Patron said that Combate Americas are in talks to bring in Sexy Star and he said she’s interested. She’s competed in wrestling and boxing in the past and wants to do MMA next. Apparently, the MMA promotion is looking to sign her as well.

To be honest, Sexy Star’s talents might be better served in an MMA environment seeing that she keeps shooting on people during her pro wrestling matches. In an MMA environment, not only would her opponents be prepared for a legit fight, but she might have some more viable competitors to take her on if she wants to throw shoot shots and lock people in real submission holds.

It was officially announced by the Smoothie King Center in New Orleans that NXT TakeOver: New Orleans will be taking place on Saturday, April 7th during WrestleMania 34 weekend. Tickets will go on sale Friday, December 15th at noon.

John Cena has only wrestled in WWE occasionally this year, a far cry from when Cena was notoriously working every live event, television taping, and media appearance that the company had lined up for him. John Cena is obviously in the process of breaking in to the world of film as an actor. Cena recently spoke about his current status in the wrestling industry with WrestleTalk as part of a promotional interview for his upcoming animated film Ferdinand, and Cena stated, “I don’t ever want to rob the consumer and phone in a performance and I don’t feel at my age that I can do a full WWE schedule, but I know that I can still contribute and I will contribute in any way shape or form, even if it’s being a surprise entry into a Survivor Series team, I will be happy to be on the team because I love WWE, so my role in the future will change. It will certainly be up to, one, what I’m available for and, two, creatively what they’re asking me to do, but I’m ready for it all.” He informed the audience that working in film and in WWE is a hard schedule to maintain, which has helped lead to his current part time status in the company.

Someone is always looking to be that next big WWE Superstar, and the company won’t stop looking wherever they can for the best talent available. Earlier today, it was reported that the company will be bringing in a new roster member to the WWE Performance Center. As reported by numerous sources, German MMA fighter Nicolai Salchow is on his way to Orlando right now to begin his career in NXT. Salchow has a 6-1 MMA record and he is currently 33-years-old. He also has a background as a CrossFit competitor. The German athlete tried out for WWE earlier this year and it looks like he will be joining the company very soon.

Another round of trademarks have been submitted by WWE, and this often times will help understand what the company may be planning in the future. PWInsider has reported that a trademark for “The Most Patriotic Show on Television” was applied recently, likely for their Tribute to the Troops event on the USA Network. The same report also mentions that Mudder Technology, a company located in Hong Kong, has attempted to apply a trademark for the word “wrestler” for usage on smart devices. WWE did not take too kindly to the news because they have since reportedly requested an extension to file an opposition for the company’s claim.

Viewership for this week’s episode of SmackDown Live drops generating an average of 2.603 million viewers. This is down 4.3% from last week’s 2.720 million viewers. This week’s episode featured a 3-on-2 Handicap Main Event Match with Kevin Owens & Sami Zayn losing to Randy Orton, Shinsuke Nakamura & WWE Champion AJ Styles. The show also featured Becky Lynch vs. Ruby Riott, Zack Ryder vs. Mojo Rawley in a U.S. Title Tournament First Round Match and The Bludgeon Brothers vs. The Ascension.
SmackDown was #8 in viewership for this week on cable, behind Curse of Oak Island, Fixer Upper, Rachel Maddow, Last Word, Tucker Carlson, Hannity and Special Report. SmackDown was #1 in the 18-49 demographic this week.
In comparison, Monday’s RAW drew 2.766 million viewers, down from last week’s 2.865 million viewers for the New Year’s Day episode. It topped SmackDown’s audience by 6.2%.

The terror threat to Europe will only increase this year, experts have warned, as growing numbers of foreign fighters return home with “high tech” weapons knowledge learned on the battlefield.

Scores of jihadists are expected to trickle back to the UK and the continent, bringing with them skills acquired in Syria and Iraq, such as the weaponising of drones and the industrialised manufacture of car bombs and IEDs, according to a new report from defence analysts Jane’s Terrorism and Insurgency Centre (JTIC).

“Foreign fighters returning to Europe will provide critical skills that will help an increasing number of operational Islamist networks conduct more complex attacks,” Otso Iho, the report’s author, said.

“These skills include the construction of viable IEDs – learned in Iraq and Syria where the Islamic State (Isil) has produced IEDs on an industrial scale – expertise in assault weapons, and the use of new weapons types or technologies such as drones.”

Several recent attacks on European soil have involved crude “low-capability” weapons, but the successful use of drones or car bombs by Islamist militants would mark a notable increase in the threat level, they say.

Isil fighters have found ways to turn commercial technology – available from Amazon or a high street shop – into effective and deadly weapons.

Those who monitor the growing use of drones warn that it is likely only a matter of time before terrorists attempt to use an armed drone for attacks against the West.

“Clearly this is a technology that can cross borders and represents threats outside of conflict zones so it’s something we all need to take seriously,” Chris Woods, the director of Air Wars, an independent group which monitors the conflict in Iraq and Syria, told the Telegraph.

In addition to the immediate and direct security threat posed by returning foreign fighters, the report concluded that significant risk is likely to emerge through their potential to transform and radicalise existing Europe-based Islamist networks.

Their input and leadership could plausibly move groups that have previously held a supportive role – financing, facilitating travel, spreading propaganda – to adopt an operational one: setting up cells, acquiring weapons, providing facilities and safe houses for explosives building, and recruiting militants for attacks.

Thousands of foreign fighters are thought to have fled the so-called caliphate in Syria and crossed over the border into Turkey undetected.

Britain has one of the largest populations of returning jihadists who travelled to join Isil in the world.

Around 850 UK citizens made the journey to the extremist group’s self-declared caliphate, with 400 of those believed to have since returned.

Five British Isil suspects have been caught on the battlefields of Syria and Iraq, including most recently two notorious jihadists dubbed The Beatles.

The fate of Londoners El Shafee Elsheikh and Alexanda Kotey remains unclear as the UK is reported to have stripped their citizenship and has signalled it does not want try the men.

But British intelligence is hoping to gain vital intelligence from the pair during interrogation, including what skills foreign fighters have gained while fighting in the “caliphate”.

They will also be interested in information on which British jihadists may have managed to escape the caliphate and could be heading home.

“The UK is an example of this trend, where despite ample precedent and prison sentences for returnees, it has the highest number of returned militants in Europe with around half having come back,” Mr Iho said.

“For those returnees planning on engaging in violence, the symbolic target value of Western European countries perhaps outweighs the higher likelihood of being apprehended and imprisoned.”

Richard Barrett, former director of global counterterrorism at MI6, said that while returning foreign fighters have not as yet added significantly to the threat of terrorism around the world, “the number of attacks inspired or directed by the Islamic State continues to rise,” he told the Telegraph.

"All returnees, whatever their reason for going home, will continue to pose some degree of risk."

He’s known as "Putin’s chef" – a wealthy Russian businessman and restaurateur who gained favour with Vladimir Putin through his stomach.

On Friday, Yevgeny Prigozhin – along with 12 other Russians and three Russian organisations – was charged by the US government as part of a vast and wide-ranging effort to sway political opinion during the 2016 US presidential election.

According to the indictment, Prigozhin and his companies provided significant funding to the Internet Research Agency, a St Petersburg-based troll farm that allegedly used bogus social media postings and advertisements fraudulently purchased in the name of Americans to try to influence the White House race.

A one-time hot dog stand owner, Prigozhin opened one of the swankiest restaurants in St Petersburg and drew interest from Putin. During his first term in office, Putin took then-French President Jacques Chirac to dine at one of Prigozhin’s restaurants.

"Vladimir Putin saw how I built a business out of a kiosk, he saw that I don’t mind serving to the esteemed guests because they were my guests," Prigozhin recalled in an interview published on the 812 Online website in 2011.

Over the years Prigozhin’s businesses have expanded significantly.

In 2010, Putin attended the inaugural ceremony of Prigozhin’s factory making school lunches outside St Petersburg which was built on generous loans by a state bank. In the Russian capital alone, his company Concord won 1.6 billion rubles ($27 million) in contacts to provide meals at public schools.

Prigozhin has also organised catering for Kremlin events for several years and has provided catering and utility services to the Russian military.
