Kylie Jenner Wore No Makeup, Only Moisturizer, On a Magazine Cover

Kylie Jenner is opening up and daring to bare (so to speak) on the new cover of Vogue Australia.

The 21-year-old beauty mogul graced the September issue wearing a black long-sleeve jacket and a super fresh-faced makeup look.

Makeup artist Ariel shared a photo of the cover, noting that he would love to claim the credit for her makeup, “but it’s really ‘moisturizer by Ariel’,” referring to the pared-down beauty look she’s sporting.

It’s a surprising look, considering Kylie’s makeup line, Kylie Cosmetics, just earned her a Forbes cover in recognition of the fact that the brand’s on track to be worth a billion dollars in the near future.

In the accompanying interview, conducted by her sister Kendall, Kylie shared some insight into how the brand became such a phenomenon.

“My Lip Kits started with, number one, my obsession with make-up and lips specifically and just how I took my insecurity with my lips and turned it into my business model,” she said. “Something I just became obsessed with was lips and lipstick, and how wearing lipstick made me feel. I just loved bigger lips, and I just got obsessed. To this day, I can’t leave the house without lipstick. So, I just think I’m obsessed with doing my make-up and watching tutorials and that’s kind of how Kylie Cosmetics started.”

When Kendall questioned whether her fixation with her lips stemmed from being in the spotlight, Kylie said no. “I think I would’ve done the same thing, because my insecurity with my lips didn’t stem from people saying anything,” she said. “I don’t even think anyone commented on my lips. We all have insecurities, right? Nobody’s perfect, and that’s my thing.”

She’s since started reducing the filler in her lips and has stepped out of the spotlight somewhat, currently focusing on being a new mom to new baby Stormi Webster and expanding her business ventures by taking the brand worldwide.

Who Is Asia Argento?

The pair met while Bourdain was filming his hit series in her native Rome. “She’s a really accomplished director and writer along with being a longtime actress and a real sponge for culture, music, literature,” the chef told People in 2017. “She’s enormously helpful and inspiring.”

Following the Weinstein revelations, Bourdain supported the actress.

In the days following his death by hanging, Argento remembered the chef as “brilliant” and “fearless,” adding that she was “beyond devestated.”

She’s a mom.

The actress had her first child, a girl named Anna Lou, in 2001 with Italian rock musician Marco Castoldi. In 2008, she married Italian director Michele Civetta and gave birth to her second child later that year, a girl named Nicola Giovanni. She and Civetta divorced in 2013.

She has now been accused of sexually assaulting former child actor Jimmy Bennett.

On Sunday evening, the New York Times reported that Jimmy Bennett, who first met Argento as a child in 2004, when she played his mom in the film The Heart is Deceitful Above All Else, had been paid $380,000 by the actress in the wake of an alleged sexual assault.

Bennett, via his lawyer, claims that he was sexually assaulted by Argento in a Southern California hotel room in 2012 when he was just 17 years old and the actress was 37. A document showed that Argento had made arrangements to pay him the money over the course of a year and a half.

Argento has denied the allegations of sexual assault and asserted that it had been Bourdain’s decision to make the payments to Bennett.

In a statement to journalist Yashar Ali on Tuesday, Argento not only denied that she had a sexual relationship with Bennett, but also claimed that she was being extorted by the young actor, now 22. She wrote that it had been Bourdain’s decision to cave to his demands in order to make the ordeal go away.

“Antony [sic] insisted the matter be handled privately and this was also what Bennett wanted,” she wrote. “Anthony was afraid of the possible negative publicity that such person, whom he considered dangerous, could have brought upon us. We decided to deal compassionately with Bennett’s demand for help and give it to him. Anthony personally undertook to help Bennett economically, upon the condition that we would no longer suffer any further intrusions in our life.”

According to the Times, Bennett’s claims are currently being investigated by California police.

#MeToo leaders, including Tarana Burke, the founder of the movement, have taken the opportunity to spotlight the victims of assault, reminding people that they are not all women.

Burke tweeted, “I’ve said repeatedly that #metooMVMT is for all of us, including these brave young men who are now coming forward.”

Kim Kardashian Just Knocked Kourtney with an Insulting Reference to Their Brother, Rob

Click:Heavy Duty Equipment accessories

The star of Season 15 of Keeping up with the Kardashians? It’s shaping up to be Kim Kardashian’s quick wit and sharp tongue. As you know, a central theme across the past few episodes has been the beauty mogul’s feud with her older sister Kourtney, and damn … Kim’s really digging below the belt.

After Kim called Kourtney “the least interesting to look at” (ouch) and told her that she doesn’t know “what it takes to run a f—ing business” (double ouch), she’s back to add insult to injury. In a preview for next Sunday’s episode, Kim and Khloé FaceTime with their other sister (so many sisters!) Kendall Jenner to talk about Kourtney’s recent attitude and what they think of her.

But before we explain the shots fired, a little context.

Jared Siskin

In the clip, Khloé dissects a conversation that she had with Kourtney, which was about a conversation that Kourtney had with Kendall. “She was like, ‘Me and Kendall were talking about you,’ and [Kourtney] goes, ‘You’re really scared about how your life is going to turn out,’” Khloé tells Kim. “She thinks I’m scared and that’s why I’m acting out because I don’t want to let my old life go.”

We’re presuming Kourtney was referring to Khloé’s pregnancy, but let’s continue.

Kim responded by saying, “No one understands us like us.” Brilliant thought, Kim. And Khloé said, “It’s hard for me to even be around her at this point.” Damn, it’s like that? Shortly after, they call Kendall. “The fact that you even hang out with Kourtney, you’re such a f—ing freak … I’m just kidding,” Kim tells Kendall. “Why? Kourt’s my best friend right now,” Kendall replied.

“I question your morals. I question your humanity,” Kim added.

As if that weren’t enough, they moved on to talk about the fact that Kourtney was considering leaving town with her children for the holidays, much to the ire of Khloé (who said she’d “miss the kids”), Kendall (who said “that would be insane”) and Kim who … what did Kim say?

Here’s where the jab comes in.

“Do you think it’s like a cry for help, a cry for attention? Is she the new Rob?” Kim said. Boom. Kim Kardashian insinuated that Kourtney, the sister with which she’s feuding, is crying out for attention and is behaving similarly to Rob, their only brother who’s essentially dropped off the face of the planet following a diabetes diagnosis, weight gain, a very public breakup with Blac Chyna, and the birth of their daughter, Dream Kardashian. Low blow, huh?

All of this, however, should be taken with a grain of salt. For over a decade, the Kardashians have profited by turning their often mundane interactions into headlines — thank you for that, Kris Jenner. Even if Kourtney and Kim did despise each other at the time, so far they’ve maintained good face on social media.

What could this all be leading up to? Kris Jenner recently hinted at the grand and calculated comeback of Rob come Season 16, a move that falls in line with writer Nicole Pomarico’s theory that for years, the family’s universe has been shrinking only to include blood-related members. Kim suddenly mentioning Rob amid a feud with Kourtney? It’s a little too perfect, which makes us think it’s the way the producers’ (read: the Kardashians, who produce their own show along with Ryan Seacrest) will make us thirsty for next season.

We’ll take another round.

Former UK Cabinet minister says he was expelled from Conservative Party by text

Former U.K. international development secretary Rory Stewart said Wednesday that he was expelled from the Conservative Party “by text” after Prime Minister Boris Johnson removed 21 members of parliament from the party.

“It came by text,” Stewart said of his removal while appearing on the British Broadcasting Corporation Radio 4’s “Today” program. “It was a pretty astonishing moment.”

“It feels a little bit like something that one associates with other countries — one opposes the leader, one loses the leadership race, no longer in the Cabinet and now apparently thrown out of the party and one’s seat too,” Stewart said.

Johnson sacked a group of 21 conservative lawmakers who voted for an attempt to block a possible no-deal Brexit.

The measure passed 328-301, with the group of rebel conservatives joining the opposition party.

Johnson has also said he planned to call for a new general election, which would need the approval of a two-thirds House of Commons majority.

The prime minister has been a staunch Brexit advocate and has said he wants the U.K. to leave the European Union with or without a deal.

Federal judge approves $70 billion CVS-Aetna merger

A federal judge on Wednesday formally approved CVS Health’s nearly $70 billion takeover of Aetna, clearing the last hurdle for the megadeal between health industry powerhouses.

The Justice Department approved the merger last year on the condition that the companies sell Aetna’s Medicare drug business to preserve competition, and every state signed off on the merger between one of the country’s largest insurers and one of the largest pharmacy benefit managers.

“CVS Health and Aetna have been one company since November 2018, and today’s action by the district court makes that 100 percent clear,” CVS said in a statement. “We remain focused on transforming the consumer health care experience in America.”

U.S. District Judge Richard J. Leon initially ordered hearings after he said the Justice Department and the companies acted like his approval was a mere “rubber stamp.” The companies had closed the deal just one month after reaching an agreement with federal regulators, which angered Leon.

On Wednesday, Leon officially signed off on the agreement reached between the two companies and federal regulators.

Leon said in his ruling that groups challenging the merger were unable to show that it would result in CVS gaining the ability to steer patients away from their current providers.

“The markets at issue are not only very competitive today, but are likely to remain so post-merger,” Leon wrote. “Consequently, the harms to the public interest the [opponents] raised were not sufficiently established to undermine the Government’s conclusion to the contrary.”

Merger settlements negotiated between the Justice Department and companies require court approval, but Leon’s involvement and his decision to hold hearings were highly unusual.

Antitrust experts have said it’s unheard of for a federal judge to force companies to make substantial changes to a merger, even if the judge has some authority to question a federal settlement.

The merger was opposed by groups such as the American Medical Association (AMA), which urged federal regulators to block the deal because of anti-competitive concerns.

“Today’s decision ultimately fails patients, will likely raise prices, lower quality, reduce choice, and stifle innovation,” AMA President Patrice A. Harris said in a statement. “Nothing in the deal guarantees reductions on insurance premiums or prescription drug costs. As for promised efficiency savings, that money will likely go straight to CVS’s bottom line.”

GOP senators object to White House delaying home-state projects for border wall

Romney said he was “disappointed” by the decision, noting that he and Lee had voiced “significant concerns” to the administration about pulling money away from military construction projects in Utah.

“Funding the border wall is an important priority, and the Executive Branch should use the appropriate channels in Congress, rather than divert already appropriated funding away from military construction projects and therefore undermining military readiness,” he said.

Lee added that “Congress has been ceding far too much powers to the executive branch for decades and it is far past time for Congress to restore the proper balance of power between the three branches.”

The two GOP senators were informed that a total of $54 million was being taken from Utah projects, with the administration expected to request that the funding be “back filled” in the upcoming fiscal year 2020 appropriations process.

The money being directed from projects in Utah is part of the larger $3.6 billion the administration is shifting from military construction projects to the border wall as part of the emergency declaration Trump declared earlier this year. The Pentagon began notifying lawmakers this week if their district or state would be affected.

The decision has sparked fierce pushback this week, mainly from Democrats who are having money pulled away from home district and state projects.

Lee added on Wednesday that the decision to divert military construction funding was the latest example of why Congress should pass his legislation to limit a president’s emergency powers.

Under legislation introduced earlier this year by Lee, emergency declarations would automatically expire after 30 days unless Congress voted to continue them.

California man arrested for allegedly selling fentanyl-laced pills to Mac Miller before his death

A California man was arrested Wednesday and accused of selling rapper Mac Miller fentanyl-laced drugs before his death last year.

Cameron James Pettit, 28, was allegedly part of a group that sold Miller counterfeit 30-milligram oxycodone pills that contained fentanyl, as well as cocaine and Xanax, two days before the rapper — whose real name was Malcolm James McCormick — died on Sept. 7, the U.S. Attorney’s Office wrote in a release.

Miller allegedly texted Pettit days before his death asking for drugs. On Sept. 5, Pettit dropped off the drugs to Miller at his recording studio. Miller died two days later at age 26, and the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner concluded that he died of mixed drug toxicity involving fentanyl, cocaine and alcohol.

Investigators believe Miller died after snorting the counterfeit, fentanyl-laced oxycodone pills, according to a criminal complaint filed Friday.

After news outlets began reporting Miller’s death, Pettit sent a message to a friend: “Most likely I will die in jail,” prosecutors said.

Drug Enforcement Administration officials and Los Angeles Police Department officers arrested Pettit, who lives in the Hollywood Hills area. He faces one count of distribution of a controlled substance.

Pettit was expected to appear in court Wednesday afternoon in the U.S. District Court in Los Angeles. If convicted, he faces a maximum sentence of 20 years in federal prison.

“Fentanyl disguised as a genuine pharmaceutical is a killer — which is being proven every day in America,” U.S. Attorney Nick Hanna said. “Drugs laced with cheap and potent fentanyl are increasingly common, and we owe it to the victims and their families to aggressively target the drug dealers that cause these overdose deaths.”

Of the 70,000 drug overdose deaths that occurred in 2017, about 28,000 deaths involved synthetic opioids such as fentanyl.

Fentanyl is 50 times more powerful than heroin and 100 times more potent than morphine. Illicitly manufactured fentanyl is often laced into drugs like heroin, cocaine and counterfeit drugs to create a cheaper high, often without the users’ knowledge, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Boris Johnson fails to get necessary support in Parliament for new election

The U.K. Parliament on Wednesday shot down Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s request for a new election, delivering yet another blow to the new administration at No. 10 Downing St.

The effort for a snap election, which needed two-thirds majority support from the House of Commons, was defeated after 298 members voted for a new election and 56 voted against. Most members of the Labour Party reportedly abstained from the vote.

Johnson had previously opposed holding a new election over the turmoil about his plan to withdraw the U.K. from the European Union by the end of October with or without a deal. However, he reversed Tuesday after Parliament passed a bill allowing members to introduce legislation that would force him to ask the EU for a three-month extension if a deal is not made by Oct. 31, Johnson’s self-imposed deadline.

The election vote is the latest in a series of legislative defeats in the last 24 hours for Johnson, who has been prime minister for just six weeks. The House of Commons earlier on Wednesday advanced legislation that would block Johnson from taking the U.K. out of the EU without a deal, with the bill heading to the House of Lords for debate.

Johnson’s Conservative Party also lost its parliamentary majority Tuesday after Phillip Lee, a 27-year veteran of the House of Commons, defected to the Liberal Democrats, specifically citing the prime minister’s push to break with Europe.

Though some members of Parliament were supportive of a new election in theory, many said they wanted to pass legislation firmly blocking a no-deal Brexit first.
