Outfits to Wear With the New IPhone 7

The IPhone 7 is all set to take the world by storm. It’s the latest gadget, a gizmo that you will surely want to have. But what should you wear with your cool phone? Your dress should go well with your gadget.

Here’s one idea – You may try consumer “wearables”. But there are other options too.

The Apple Watch, Google Glass, and Fitbit are on the leading edge of consumer “wearables” – technology that combines electronic sensors with everyday apparel. But watches and eyeglasses are only the beginning. Shirts, socks, and any other item of clothing or accessory you have in your wardrobe are being reimagined to collect, analyze, and use personalized data.

Here’s a sampling of smart clothing you can wear with the IPhone 7:

AiQ Smart Clothing Company produces a line of smart apparel, including conductive gloves for smudge-free touchscreen use, clothes that light up, clothes that give off evenly distributed heat, and even metal mesh clothing that shields the wearer from radiation.

Designer Pauline Van Dongen offers a Wearable Solar Clothing Collection. Her coats and dresses integrate solar cells that can charge your smartphone but be obscured with fabric when not in use.

This electronic hoodie will go very well with the IPhone 7.

You can wear this glitter top as well. You will definitely be looking completely different in this.

Or try this look with the IPhone 7.

Modules are sewed into clothes. The modules are used to create various luminous and flashing costumes for parties, carnivals, and similar crazy opportunity, but it can also be used for more serious applications.

You may also wear this luminous and flashing costume.

Here’s one integrated solar clothing. This futuristic design is a sure eye-catcher.

Try unusual shapes and structures have been translated into a collection that combines a fluid form with abstract constructed shapes, graphic lines and smooth curves with striking materials around the body.

Stereopsis investigates human perception of space and the way light creates and influences our vision on surroundings. Something that seems flat at first sight can suddenly appear to be three-dimensional. Stereopsis collection exploits the ability of reflection and refraction of light through cone shapes and hollow forms that absorb it. Laser cut leather and silk are shaped in three-dimensional structures that play with light and interact with the viewer when moving.

Look straight out of a sci-fi movie with this look. It looks quite bizarre and more high-fashion but believe me, you will look the best of the bunch. This is a very good IPhone 7 outfit.

Steampunk is often framed as an alternative past, or present, but can also be seen as a post-apocalyptic future that combines Victorian and punk theme in a sub-culture with high-tech based on steam.

Here is another Steampunk look. You can wear this as well with the new IPhone 7.

Retro Futuristic – Of course everyone has a different view of what the future might be like, but some versions seem to go in and out of fashion with the times. We do tend to fall back on the universal, solid color jumpsuit, as Time notes. Aerials on hats and bubble helmets were predicted, as seen on The Jetsons. Other examples include the very human-like alien civilizations in the original Star Trek or the costumes used in Barbarella. For example, just look at this holographic skater dress.

Here is another retro-futuristic look you might like.

Cyberpunk – You can decide how grimy this costume should be, depending on your favorite style of cyberpunk. The inspiration for these could be the Tron movies with their one-piece black jumpsuits and neon accessories. Or you can channel a gothic vibe, like characters from The Matrix or Bladerunner.

You are sure to look stunning in this electronic evening gown. And it will be perfect with the new IPhone 7.

Fun Fashion Fact

The 90th Academy Awards ceremony will be broadcast on TV this Sunday. Did you know that the first Oscars ceremony in 1929 was neither filmed nor broadcast on the radio? That’s why we don’t know, for example, what best actress Janet Gaynor wore to the actual show (although two publicity shots of her with her Oscar do exist, in which she is pictured in two different outfits).

Wool Coats for Women to Wear this Winter

A wool coat can be a costly investment especially if you chose designer wool coats. These are very essential in every woman’s winter wardrobe. Sad this is that wool coats ranges from a hundred dollars to a thousand dollars. They vary in size, wool weight, wool type and style.

Advantages of wool fabric

It’s wrinkle-free when you store it the right way. When it does get wrinkles, just lay it flat for a couple of hours then it will just disappear.

White Denim is Wonderful

Spring and Summer are the seasons for white denim, although I personally wear white jeans throughout the year. When I say white denim, I’m referring to jeans, denim jackets and denim skirts. The whites vary from bright optical white and off-white to a greyish bone and warm cream. Take your pick.

I am a HUGE advocate of white denim and white jeans in particular, and here’s why.

1. Dressy

When white denim isn’t torn, ripped, and distressed, it looks dressier than blue denim. White jeans are a great option when you don’t feel like wearing formal trousers or a skirt, but blue denim and casual pants are too casual. Many of my business casual clients aren’t allowed to wear blue jeans to work, but a polished pair of white jeans or a white denim skirt is acceptable. They can also get away with wearing a pristine white denim jacket in a dressier way. I find that white jeans are the ideal level of dressiness for many settings, making them a versatile workhorse for my style.

2. Crisp, Graphic and Fresh

There is something about adding white denim to an outfit that makes it look extra crisp and fresh. It also looks more graphic than blue, grey or black denim. White jeans look fabulously modern to my eye, especially when you wear them in the Autumn and Winter.

3. Bright and Neutral

White is the brightest neutral, and a fab way to change things when you prefer a neutral style. Instead of brights, white can be your bright. Combine white jeans with a neutral top, footwear and bag, and the visual effect of your outfit is bold and bright but 100% neutral.

4. Works with Pastels and Muddy Mid-Tones

Pastel tops and footwear look especially good with white bottoms. Match pastel tops and footwear with black and grey bottoms and the effect isn’t as punchy and crisp (unless you throw in white shoes and bag). White bottoms bring out light blue, blush, mint and lilac. Furthermore, white denim is smashing with black and grey tops, providing a more Summery way to wear black and grey. White denim works equally well with muddy mid-tones, thereby cleaning them up in a way blue and black denim can’t achieve.

5. More Unique than Blue

Most people wear blue and black jeans, skirts and jackets across a range of washes, but far fewer wear white denim because it’s harder to keep clean, looks a little stark, and can be too bold. Some find white jeans widening, and prefer the streamlined effect of wearing dark colours on the bottom. White denim jackets are excellent over dresses and skirts, look awfully Summery, and can work with all sorts of blue denim and non-denim bottoms. So if you want to look more unique, wearing white denim is one way to go.

6. Works with Platinum Blonde and Grey Hair

White denim can bookend and complement very blonde hair, salt & pepper hair, silver grey hair, and white hair because it picks up the lightest neutrals in heads of hair these colours. Of course, white denim can work with any complexion and head of hair when the support act is complementary.

For my style, white jeans are a wardrobe essential, and one of my very favourite things. I’d love to find a fabulous white denim jacket but don’t want one with silver buttons. I have several pairs of white jeans, and am open to adding a pair of wide crops.

Here is my current white denim collection. I wear the three pairs of cropped straights all the time, the pair of boyfriends once in a while, and the flares less frequently because they require a two inch heel which I don’t wear. I think I’ll have them hemmed to wear with white sneakers.

Most of my clients, across all body types, sizes and ages, wear white jeans. I say it every year: We can all wear white jeans. You don’t need to be slim in the leg, waist and thigh, or wear a small size. My US size 14 and 18 clients look as good wearing white jeans as those who wear smaller sizes. It’s a question of getting the fit and fabric right. Here are 12 tips for feeling fab in white bottoms.

Over to you. Do you wear white denim? If so, why do you like wearing it?

Sipping and snacking: San José's hottest new restaurants and bars

From the traditional Costa Rican establishments to the international locales with flair, every visit to San José promises the opportunity to indulge in fantastic food and drinks.

And there’s no one perfect location. In every corner of the city you’ll be able to find great food with its own unique touch. Here are three top spots to eat and drink in San José.

El Bebedero

Housed in one of the oldest structures in downtown San José – the Steinvorth building, El Bebedero is where cocktail lovers go.

In the glitzy, avant-garde bar, mixologists add an aphrodisiac blend called Cabeza Caliente (hot head) for a new take on the traditional Moscow Mule. For those with more eccentric tastes, there’s Cuatro Veinte (4-20), a popular drink that combines coconut, hemp and patchouli mix.

Paired with its exotic drink menu are a slew of tasty appetizers like ceviche, locally sourced oysters and pejibaye – a local veggie that’s served with special sauces.

Head to El Bebedero on Friday nights for their drink specials.

El Taller de Billy

There’s nothing more exclusive than a seat at chef Sergio Dobles’ table. The open kitchen, located in Dobles’ garage in Pavas, welcomes no more than 20 guests per night.

Diners not only feast on dishes from Italy, Spain, Japan and the Mediterranean, but are able to ask questions and interact with the world-class chef on duty for the night. Among a few of the popular dishes are fried shrimp, pork loin medallions and chef Dobles’ version of a caramel flan.

The only way to get a seat at the table is to make reservations through El Taller de Billy’s Facebook page.

Bó Fast Good

is a place like no other in San José.

The modern underground spot offers a new concept on fast food. Bó, located in the heart of San José, serves Bocadillos, a spanish mini bread stuffed with meat, spices and an unexpected surprise. The idea was dreamed up by chef Josep Pérez, who was born and raised in Catalonia but moved to San José a few years ago.

The menu includes 16 different types of sandwiches with different fixins and flavors like one made of Café Tarrazú, a traditional coffee bean of Costa Rica.

The best thing about these unique sandwiches is the meat. The sausages are handmade by Pérez himself. They are a combination of both local and international meat and prepared with pepper and herbs and spices that the chef buys in local markets.

The hardest decision may be what sauce to chose. Pérez has created a salsodromo (sauce bar) of 25 different kind of salsas each made with traditional Costa Rican products. The nature of the food on offer at Bó makes it the ideal place for a quick bite.

Brand Spotlight: Natori Sleepwear

Natori makes quality sleepwear. The pieces are pretty, covered, substantial, comfortable and alluring. Fabrics are soft and drapey, and seldom crease. Cuts are flattering, and suit a wide range of body types. There is a good assortment of fabrics, colours, sizes and patterns. On the downside, sizing can be inconsistent and sometimes runs large.

I wanted to carry through the Modern Retro theme that I created for my swimwear capsule into my Summer loungewear and sleepwear style because it looks elegant, feminine and dressy. But it was difficult to find a long kimono that fit with matching nightie or pyjamas in silhouettes with sufficient coverage, and in substantial WOVEN fabrics that don’t crease. The kimono had to be midi length, patterned, drape like a dream, and not overwhelm me. The nightie could be strappy as long as it was long and fairly covered. I didn’t want classic button-through pyjamas because I don’t feel fab in the silhouette. I’m fussy, and it was quite a tall order.

I eventually found a gorgeous set of three in exactly what I wanted: pyjama, nightie and robe in an “Ombre Floral”. These are wildcards as I give glam warm-weather loungewear and sleepwear a go.

  • Natori Ombre Floral Satin Robe: I was prepared to say “no” to Summer robes forever because they slide open and are very annoying. NOT this one. The cut and fabric are genius. It’s long which helps you stay covered. It has an inner tie that keeps the front part secure. The wide belt is encased through a drawstring tunnel at the back that keeps it in position. The fabric hangs with heft and does not crease. BRILLIANT. Runs TTS.
  • N by Natori Ombre Floral PJ Set: If you want pyjamas with coverage but don’t fancy the traditional button-through silhouette – TRY THIS. It’s surprisingly flattering, and the cropped pants work extremely well with the cropped wide sleeves. The fabric hangs with heft and does not crease. It’s not clingy and see-through thanks to substantial woven fabric and good drape. Excellent cut and very soft. Runs TTS.
  • N by Natori Ombre Floral Long Gown: This is a beautifully cut woven nightie that works on a range of body types. It does not cling, and the front isn’t too low. The straps are adjustable, and the length is elegant. Not see-through or overly skimpy. Runs TTS.
  • Natori Shangri La Robe: An excellent knit robe for Team Tall. Flattering cut and ample coverage. Read the rave reviews.

Try Natori sleepwear and loungewear if you’re after something feminine, covered and comfortable.

Five festivals in Sharjah

Festivals create a wondrous sense of community, allowing us to tap into our creative spirit, draw inspiration and weave a common bond with complete strangers. In keeping with its role as the UAE’s capital of culture, Sharjah boasts a full quiver of fun fiestas. Here are five festivals that let you easily plug into the local culture and enrich your trip.

Sharjah Light Festival

The magic of illuminations transcends time, borders, ages and faiths, which explains the success of light festivals, be they in London, Sydney, Seoul or, yes, Sharjah. Every February, landmarks across the bicoastal emirate erupt in a kaleidoscopic spectacle of light, colour and sound during the 10-day Sharjah Light Festival. Dazzling installations, video mapping and site-specific projections, dreamed up by a global roster of gifted artists, make you see such architectural gems as Al Noor Mosque, the Al Hisn Fort and House of Justice in an entirely new light. As day fades into night, join the throngs fanning out in search of the most enchanting visions gracing facades, domes, gardens and minarets. Many designs are poetic and inspiring interpretations of local culture, tradition, history and nature. To see all of them the easy way, hop on the festival bus that makes its merry round of the town. Even the east coast exclaves of Dibba, Khor Fakkan and Kalba get in on this glittering alchemy of art and technology.

Sharjah Biennial

The Sharjah Biennial put the UAE on the art world map in the quiet, understated style so characteristic of the emirate. Founded in 1993 by Sharjah’s ruler, Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Muhammed Al Qasimi, the exposition is considered the most important art showcase in the region. Piloting the event to such prominence is the ruler’s youngest daughter, Sheikha Hoor Al Qasimi, who took over the Biennial’s helm in 2003. A respected artist in her own right, Qasimi paved the way for an accessible, artist-driven format and for bringing in renowned curators from around the world. Held in multiple venues throughout the entire emirate, the exhibit features emerging artists and heavy hitters across all genres – painting to installations, sound pieces to performances. Keep an eye out for commissioned and site-specific works and also check out the cultural programming of film screenings, talks and concerts.

The next Sharjah Biennial, entitled Leaving the Echo Chamber, takes place from 7 March to 10 June 2019.

Sharjah International Book Fair

The power of the pen is still alive and well in the digital age if the size and popularity of the Sharjah International Book Fair are any indication. With nearly four decades under its belt, the beloved lit fest crawls with over two million bookworms for 11 days every November. As the largest showcase of printed stories, voices and views in the region, the fair also acts as an important bridge for cross-cultural understanding and was a key factor in Sharjah being named Unesco’s World Book Capital for 2019. Fiction to histories, poetry to how-tos, cookbooks to graphic novels – the selection of tomes presented by 1800 publishers from 80 countries is truly mindboggling. In addition, you can feed your hunger for words in hundreds of workshops and readings or pose with your favourite author at book signings. Past fairs have drawn such celebs as AJ Finn, Bruce Parry and Bollywood stars Soha Ali Kahn and Prakash Raj.

The next Sharjah International Book Fair is held in November 2019.

Powerboats racing across the water during Sharjah World Championship Week. Image courtesy of Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority.

Sharjah World Championship Week

A boat that roars from 0 to 180 kph in just four seconds, tearing up the water as it skids into hairpin turns, leaving nothing but a rooster tail of white spray in its wake? That’s F1H20, or Formula One powerboat racing, a fast and furious water sport that you can see live and in all its high-octane action during the Sharjah World Championship Week in December. Part of the UIM F1H20 World Championship series, the epic race takes over Khalid Lagoon and pits as many as 20 of the world’s best powerboat racers against each other in pursuit of trophy, money and glory. The lightweight catamarans are designed for high velocity and easy maneuverability and virtually fly across the water. Seeing them reach speeds of up to 225 kph on straights at full throttle is an exhilarating sight indeed. The competition is the marquee event of a week’s worth of water sport that also includes the UIM-ABP Aquabike Class Pro Circuit World Championship.

The next Sharjah World Championship Week is held in December 2019.

Sharjah World Music Festival

The top music event on Sharjah’s cultural calendar, the seven-day Sharjah World Music Festival is a series of goose-bump-inducing concerts held under the night sky. Spotlighting top talent from around the region and beyond, the lineup spans the entire arc of musical tastes. Groove to bouncy Arab pop, tap your toes to classic jazz or treat your ears to soul-stirring flamenco guitar. What began as a little outdoor event at Al Qasba in 2014 has grown into a citywide extravaganza in four scenic locations, including the Al Majaz Amphitheatre on Khalid Lagoon and the Flag Island Amphitheatre. Most concerts are free, the ambience is relaxed and there are happy vibes all around.

The next Sharjah World Music Festival takes place from 1 Feb to 9 Feb 2019.

Best Dressed Celebrities at the 2015 Teen Choice Awards

All the looks you need to see! From the crop tops to their accessories to their hair braids – The 2015 Teen Choice Awards is full of fashionable celebrities that are worthy of obsessing over Instagram.

Nina Dobrev is leaving The Vampire Diaries soon and we’ll totally miss her on the show. That’s why on her last outing as Elena on the 2015 TCA, she look glitzy in a mini dress with cool mesh panels of red, coral and pink embroidery. She kept important belongings in a super cute rose gold clutch bag.

Many gasped when they heard Lucy Hale was leaving Pretty Little Liars really soon. Quite sad when you think about it but hey, they need to grow up, star on other shows and we feel like it’s time to move on. Lucy opted for a sexy mini dress with a very deep mesh neckline, something we wouldn’t even dare think Aria Montgomery would wear.

Victoria Justice chose a perfectly poised emerald dress with ample texture and lots and lots of fringe. Lovely, don’t you think? It’s so summery.

How cute is this retro-inspired outfit that Keke Palmer wore to the Awards? It’s a mixture of retro classy and sexy at the same time.

Portia DeRossi’s jumpsuit is a really pretty summer must-have. It’s beautiful, looks very versatile and if we have something like this in our closet, we’d absolutely wear it for the remaining days of the summer.

Modern Family star Sarah Hyland chose a yellow crop top co-ord with matching yellow shoes. She flaunted her totally toned body and we’re proud of her.

This crochet dress Gina Rodriguez wore is a nice transitioning dress for fall. Layer it with a layer jacket, scarf, tights and leather boots.

Jordana Brewster wore a summer dress classic – sweetheart-neckline with red and green flora motif, multi-strap high heel sandals and a ton of ear cuffs. Cool!

Peyton List wore a polka-dotted suit with a cutout crop top. She slipped on some chunky-heeled sandals and a color-popping purple clutch bag.

This dress is a so-so from us. Britney should flaunt whatever she still has, especially at her age with children. The singer-actress left noting to the imagination, showing off not only her cleavage but her long legs as well.
