Arsenal’s bid for Ivan Perisic rejected, ace hands in transfer request

Arsenal’s loan bid for Inter Milan winger Ivan Perisic has been rejected by the Italian giants, the Gunners’ proposition for the winger simply isn’t good enough for the San Siro club.

According to Sky in Italy, Arsenal offered the Nerazzurri a loan fee of £4.4m for Perisic, their proposed deal included an option to buy the 29-year-old for £34.5m.

Unai Emery is stuck in the mud at Arsenal, it’s understood that the Gunners only have the finances to facilitate loan moves in the January transfer window but Inter see loaning out Perisic – who will turn 30 in February – as unfeasible.

The move could be edging closer as Italian journalist Fabrizio Ramano revealed that the Croatian has handed in a transfer request:

Perisic has been in poor form this season, which is surprising given his exploits at the World Cup last summer. The winger has only scored three goals and contributed two assists in 18 Serie A appearances this season.

Given Perisic’s poor form this season it’s unlikely that Arsenal would be able to justify a loan move for the World Cup finalist with an obligation rather than an option to sign him in the summer, this is really too much of a gamble for the Gunners to take and they should identify other attacking targets.

Arsenal’s initial bid for Perisic is audacious at best.

A previous Daily Mirror report has stated Felix has a release clause as high as £105million, and given the growing interest in this talented 19-year-old, it might well be that it takes something close to that price tag to trigger a deal.

Record have previously linked Felix with Manchester United, while the print edition of O Jogo, translated by Sport Witness, claimed Chelsea were also interested.

The Mirror’s latest report suggests Wolves would be up against Europe’s elite for the Portuguese starlet, but they’ll hope they can continue to attract big names to the club.

Despite only winning promotion to the Premier League last season, Wolves have done well in the transfer market to put together a squad that looks very much at home in the top flight.

‘The new Cazorla’ – These Arsenal fans react to the signing of Barcelona’s Denis Suarez on loan

Arsenal’s patience has paid off, the Gunners have finally got their man on deadline day, Denis Suarez will join the North London club on loan from Barcelona.

Arsenal will be hoping that Suarez’s reunion with Unai Emery will spell success for the Gunners. Suarez was on loan at Sevilla during the 2014/15 season, the Andalusian club managed to win the Europa League that year.

Given the fierce competition for the 4th place spot in the Premier League between; Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United – winning the Europa League could be the only way that the Gunners qualify for the Champions League next season.

Suarez extended his contract with Barcelona by one year, until 30 June 2021 and according to Barcelona’s official website, Arsenal’s loan for the ace includes an option for the Gunners to permanently sign the 25-year-old.

Ironically Suarez could finally get to make his debut in English football against his former club, the Spaniard was at Manchester City from the summer of 2011 to the summer of 2013, but failed to make a first-team appearance for the Citizens.

Gooners have been anxious for the majority of the transfer window but they’ve finally managed to capture one of their primary transfer targets:

La Liga club eye transfer raid on Manchester United after missing out on Chelsea star

Sevilla are reportedly interested in a transfer move for Manchester United forward Anthony Martial as an alternative to Chelsea striker Alvaro Morata.

Martial may, however, feel a move away is still a decent idea for his prospects of more first-team football in his preferred centre-forward role.

Having been shifted out wide more often than not at United, Martial could be given a more key role leading the line for Sevilla, without the likes of Romelu Lukaku and Marcus Rashford to worry about as competition.

The former Monaco man is, however, a big fan favourite with Red Devils supporters so they will surely be eager not to see him leave as he surely still as his best years ahead of him.

However, the Catalan giants have opted to accelerate the switch, perhaps with the fact that he has been frozen out of the first-team squad in recent weeks in mind, and so now he’ll begin the process of settling and acclimatising at his new club, with new teammates and environment in the coming months.

As seen in the video below, the youngster was unveiled on Thursday night with his official presentation to come on Friday, while there was big news in the form of his squad number being revealed.

It comes with a lot of pressure given club legend Xavi recently wore it, but the Frenchman will don the No.6 jersey at Barcelona and he’ll hope to live up to expectations moving forward.

Time will tell how immediate of an impact he can make, as ultimately it might take a settling in period to adjust to the style of play and culture at Barcelona. Nevertheless, the club certainly believe in his qualities, as shown in their decision to fast-track his move rather than waiting until the summer.

It wasn’t so long ago that the 33-year-old was considered one of the finest centre-backs in the business, having long been a key player for Chelsea.

Casemiro would be a superb signing for Arsenal, who urgently need an upgrade on Granit Xhaka and Mohamed Elneny in that defensive midfield role.

Despite a dip in form for Madrid this season – like many of his team-mates – Casemiro remains one of the best players in the world in his position.

Don Balon recently linked the 26-year-old with a potential move to the Gunners, with Real surprisingly prepared to let him go if they receive an offer worth around £52million.

‘What a beast’ – These AC Milan fans react to Chelsea loanee Tiemoue Bakayoko’s latest impressive display

After a shaky start to life in Italy, Chelsea loanee Tiemoue Bakayoko is seemingly continuing to change opinion as he impressed for AC Milan on Monday.

As noted by Sky Sports, the 24-year-old is on a season-long loan deal from Chelsea, while the Italian giants are said to have an option to make it a permanent move this summer.

Based on the level of his performances in recent months, it may well be an easy decision for Milan to make as Bakayoko once again stood out as a key player in their win over Genoa on Monday, which took them back into the top four in Serie A.

Bakayoko struggled in his debut campaign at Stamford Bridge last season, failing to show the quality that ultimately earned him his transfer from Monaco.

In turn, his move to Italy was considered crucial in proving his worth moving forward, and with Lucas Biglia sidelined with injury over the last two months, he has grabbed his opportunity with both hands and continues to impress.

As noted in the tweets below, some of which even came from Chelsea fans, he has certainly turned things around after being heavily criticised for not showing his quality previously, and so it remains to be seen if Milan do exercise that reported option to sign him permanently.

From his defensive coverage in front of the backline to his driving runs forward, Bakayoko has seemingly regained his confidence and deserves a great deal of credit for putting a disappointing and difficult period in his career behind him.

Should he continue his current form, it may even leave some Chelsea fans questioning whether or not he perhaps should have been given more time in west London…

Arsenal hoping to seal £26m La Liga starlet’s signature before transfer deadline

Arsenal are targeting a loan approach for Real Betis full-back Aissa Mandi, to fill in for the injured Hector Bellerin until the end of the season.

According to El Desmarque via Football London, Gunners boss Unai Emery wants to bring in the Spanish right-back on a temporary deal until the summer, with the option to make the move permanent for £26 million thereafter.

Bellerin sustained a horrifying ACL injury during Arsenal’s 2-0 win against Chelsea earlier in the month, which has left Emery short on options in defence.

Mandi could slot into his fellow countryman’s position at the Emirates Stadium seamlessly, but it remains to be seen whether or not Betis will be willing to offload one of their key players at this stage of the campaign.

The 27-year-old defender has appeared in 29 matches for the Spanish outfit this season, helping them to climb up to eighth in La Liga, with the Europa League knockout phase and Copa Del Rey quarterfinals still to look forward to additionally.

Aissa Mandi

Meanwhile, Arsenal are fifth in the Premier League and facing an uphill battle to finish in the top four, level on points with Man United and three behind Chelsea, who currently occupy the final Champions League spot.

The Gunners have been strong going forward throughout the year, but defensively they have been vulnerable, which has ultimately held them back in pursuit of major honours.

Emery’s side now realistically have only the Europa League to play for between now and May, but winning the competition could be vital for the club if they ultimately miss out on a place in the top four domestically.

Bellerin has been a consistent starter for Arsenal this term and without him, they could be left even more open at the back, which is why bringing in Mandi is so crucial for the club over the next two days.

The transfer deadline is fast approaching but this loan switch could still easily be sanctioned in time and Mandi could take his career to the next level by pushing through a last minute move to the Emirates Stadium.
