Refreshed Debreczeni ready to make mark with Brumbies

New Brumbies signing Jack Debreczeni is embracing the chance to return to Super Rugby, signing a one-year deal.Debreczeni's signing was announced on Tuesday, last playing in Australia for the Rebels in 2018 before stints in New Zealand and Japan. He believes the adventure allowed him to recapture his love for the game after bursting onto the scene as a 21-year-old.“I think the opportunity to be closer to home, especially after COVID the last couple of years where it was tough to be away from family, was something I jumped at,” he told reporters. "To come play at an organisation like the Brumbies was hard to say no to.“It’s been a ride over the past five years moving between Australia, Japan, New Zealand and now back to Australia. I think I learnt over in Japan there’s not much external pressure or media, you love the game…you get that understanding of the love of how good it is to be a Rugby player.“The comp stopped a few times over there, there wasn’t a lot of Rugby, a lot of training though. My body feels good and mentally refreshed after coming back from those three years away."The prospect of playing in a new-look Super Rugby adds to the excitement for the playmaker, eager to test himself.“(Super Rugby) has been awesome, especially that first year where it was just the Australian teams playing against each other. I think you saw greater engagement from fans seeing guys and teams they know week-in, week-out," he explained.“With the inclusion of New Zealand and Fiji, it was a really awesome comp to watch…I’m really happy to jump back in Super Rugby and give it a crack.”Debreczeni will get the chance to showcase his talent as part of the Brumbies XV against the NSW Waratahs Development squad on Saturday. He is joined by returning Sevens star Ben O'Donnell, who is relishing the chance to learn under Wallabies legend Stephen Larkham.“It wasn’t a hard decision. I was over in Ireland with Connacht and Stephen Larkham, who was at Munster at the time so we were down the road, (and) when ‘Bernie’ calls, you answer,” O’Donnell said.“Most of the people my age grew up watching Bernie play and he was a freak. The way he wants to play is something that is attractive to myself and I hope to a lot of the ACT team.“I haven’t played footy for a long time…I’m just keen to get ball in hand, build some partnerships and connections with some boys in the team.” Click Here: SL Benfica soccer tracksuit
